fertrevino··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (Nov 2025)
Trying to get the first commercial users for my digital menu management product: menuop.com

I have been working in ad campaigns and instrumentation to understand interest and reach out to potential users.

fertrevino··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2025)
I am rewriting my pet project: menuop.com . I am integrating AI in the whole restaurant menu creation process. Specifically I'm leveraging the Nano Banana to generate suitable images for food items.
fertrevino··on SynthID – A tool to watermark and identify content generated through AI
I wonder what exactly would prevent a developer from removing the signature from a generated file. One could remove arbitrary segments that signal that it is AI generated.
fertrevino··on Ask HN: GitHub Copilot down?
'There seems to be a problem with your account. Please contact Github support' is what I get in my vscode extension.
fertrevino··on From GPT-4 to GPT-5: Measuring progress through MedHELM [pdf]
loved the cartoon :)
fertrevino··on From GPT-4 to GPT-5: Measuring progress through MedHELM [pdf]
That would be an interesting extension. MedGemma isn't part of the original benchmark either [1]. Since Gemini 2.0 Flash is on 6th place, expectations are for MedGemma to achieve higher than that :)

fertrevino··on From GPT-4 to GPT-5: Measuring progress through MedHELM [pdf]
Mixed results indeed. While it leads the benchmark in two question types, it falls short in others which results in the overall slight regression.
fertrevino··on From GPT-4 to GPT-5: Measuring progress through MedHELM [pdf]
Interesting, it seems the anecdotal experience agrees with the benchmark results.
fertrevino··on The EU AI Act – consultation on general-purpose AI
I find this topic more relevant as time goes by, I consider compliance and assessment of AI systems is necessary for its own success. I currently conduct a field study on the topic: https://www.ai-compliance.cloud/
fertrevino··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (April 2025)
I am extending my pet project menuop.com, a digital menu maker for restaurants. I plan to integrate AI to enhance visual impact, analytics and recommendations to restaurant owners.
fertrevino··on I'm Peter Roberts, immigration attorney, who does work for YC and startups. AMA
I heard russian citizens were having troubles getting any kind of U.S. visa due to the political situation in the world. Does this situation still persists? Asking for a friend who still hasn't heard back for his tourist visa.
fertrevino··on Diagram as Code
I loved this when I started using it. It does work very well to a certain extent. At some point the diagrams became too large and the arrows overlap started to be really inconvenient.

I heard that likec4.dev is a good alternative for this, but I have no hands on experience with it.

Thank you for your answers, it's super helpful

Me and my cofounder are non-US residents and live in Germany. If we get into YC, what would a typical / recommended way to proceed be?

We haven’t established a company in Germany yet, we want to be strategic and make what’s best to succeed.

From what I know we can do the batch with our current tourist visa, so I’d like to know more about the post batch options. Being US based or Germany based is an option for us.

Thanks in advance

fertrevino··on NumPy 2.0
So apparently this is what broke my CI job since it was indirectly installed. One of the downsides of using loose version locking with requirements.txt rather than something like poetry I guess.
fertrevino··on Show HN: Digital Menus for Food Businesses
Hi!

It is operational, the link is valid.

It could take a couple of minutes for changes to be visible. My understanding is the CDN plays a role.

Did you experience any issues? I would love to improve it.

I do not see that much of an upward trend, how did you notice it?
fertrevino··on Ask HN: If Kubernetes is the solution, why are there so many DevOps jobs?
The number of places that get the meaning of DevOps wrong is too high. So much that it is often easier to use it wrong in order to express an idea.
fertrevino··on Ask HN: If Kubernetes is the solution, why are there so many DevOps jobs?
DevOps has its days numbered. What you see is the wide adoption of DevOps in every industry. This trend is likely to plateau and decline in the next couple of years, after which DevOps practices are taken for granted and become rather an expectation from customers. The DevOps problem only needs to be solved once, public cloud providers are almost there.
fertrevino··on M1 MacBook Pros Speakers Have a Crackling Problem
It infrequently happens on mine. The 14" M1 is 2 months old and its speakers have cracked for an hour or so every 3 weeks. Curious to see if the problem worsens as time goes by.
