She literally quoted a Hadith. What is "incendiary" according to you is her tone of quotation. As if people don't quote nonsense from other religions in a non-reverential but mocking manner. Is Islam so fragile that Muslims get provoked by "quoting a hadith"?

I am incapable of putting words into your mouth, you are just taking hilariously diametrically opposite positions in the same conversation.

She apologised after she was thrown under the bus by her party (in a cowardly manner), which got pushback on this issue from India's middle eastern partners. The Supreme Court Judge's comments on her are unprecedented and disgraceful. After having received severe criticism for those comments, the court silently provided her the same relief from prosecution that she had sought in the first place.

The next time you turn up to support islamic barbarism, at least own up to it.

Here is a link in response to all your outdated bogus links: https://www.livelaw.in/top-stories/supreme-court-protects-nu...

You can do a text search on "Nupur Sharma" on livelaw as well.

You can keep spewing non sense like this, but people here are more literate than what you are used to. Your argument boils down to - if you insulted or are perceived to have insulted the prophet of Islam (by even quoting a hadith), then you deserve to die and live in perpetual fear of being murdered by a "ghazi".

No one cares if Nupur Sharma lost a bloody BJP job. You are justifying murder and religious fanaticism.

fellellor··on Indian government empowers itself to “fact check,” delete social media posts
Gaslighting at it's finest right here. Nupur Sharma can never live a normal life. The moment her security is removed, and whereabouts are known she will absolutely get murdered by some Muslim fanatic, just like Kamlesh Tiwari.

This is mentally sick.

She should be able to say anything she wants on Islam and Muhammed. The only consequence to her should be what is in the Indian Penal Code, and ostracisation by her constituents. She doesn't deserve to be lynched by a muslim mob for that.

People like you who justify mob lynching don't belong in civilised society.

You should be the one presenting evidence of planned genocide. And proper evidence, not some bullshit he said she said. Maybe some leaked papers from the Indian Government showing attempt to arm mobs, moving battalions of the military or the paramilitary expressly for the purpose of mass murder etc.

You lie by speaking selectively. BJP leadership was supportive of Nupur Sharma initially. Prominent Muslim figures like Nasiruddin Shah (who normally despise BJP) have come out and said that Nupur Sharma did not say anything wrong about Mohammed.

BJP distanced itself from her after they got a lot of push back from friendly Middle Eastern states. BJP are a bunch of opportunist cowards themselves anyway.

There is no case against Nupur Sharma and she only said what she said (on that TV show) after having been provoked by another Muslim panelist about Hinduism and Hindu gods.

Extremely hilarious to see no discussion here given the previous threads on this case were absolutely deluged with uneducated, know-it-all comments about the same.

Fears of “AI” are gradually reaching mass hysteria levels at this point.
fellellor··on If AI scaling is to be shut down, let it be for a coherent reason
That dude Eliezer Yudkowsky is such a nutcase. It is truly a testament to our times that we have normalised this kind of “Neuro-divergent” behaviour. He claims that AI is completely inscrutable and that it is guaranteed to wipe out life on earth in the same self-contradictory breath. In all his communication he is only trying to scare the normies and he hasn’t produced a shred of mathematical argument to back his claims, which can then be analysed by real experts - mathematicians and logicians. The sky is falling argument could be made about any technology, say the Large Hadron Collider. There is no scientific research possible without risk, and there simply aren’t enough escape hatches for a “malicious” AI to escape. This kind of hubris should not be encouraged but it is sad to see media outlets give a platform to the arrogant, incompetent, and the mentally ill.

That 80:20 rule when it comes to LLM is more like 30:70. Only about 30% of the code it generates is useful, and that too after you change it to an arbitrary extent, nearly 70% of the time.

On the other hand, if you are following along with some Udemy course, it’s pretty good at producing the exact lines in the video around 80% of the time. :rofl_emoji:

On the whole, I’m very happy and pleasantly amused with my copilot purchase.

I am praying everyday for the US financial system to collapse and the dollar to hyperinflate, so the good folks from Sushi company don’t have to deal with this unjust lawsuit.

I too think the unfairness is the problem here with the acceptability of Bitcoin as reserve currency. But not in the way the parent proposes. Bitcoin as reserve currency is such a zero sum outcome, unlike stock market investment gains, because the no coiners loose everything and the maxis gain everything that the others lost.

People who held google stock early actually provided a lot of value to society. By either investing in or working for a company that radically transformed how people use the Internet. You can argue early investors into Bitcoin are the same but in a much lesser way than if you aren’t Satoshi and didn’t contribute to the core development or advocacy of Bitcoin. Most hodlers just bought it and held on and did nothing.

The unfairness of this is so rankling that it’s hard to imagine that Bitcoin as reserve currency settles into an accepted equilibrium without significant violence on a global scale.

fellellor··on The False Promise of ChatGPT
What a pile of garbage… True intelligence is moral?! Morality is a by product of society. Ants have morality. Morality doesn’t develop in a vacuum without any necessity for it. I never expect something sensible from an obtuse lunatic like Chompsky anyway.
fellellor··on The False Promise of ChatGPT
Stupid people will overuse that tool and call everything AI generated, just like they overuse AI content generation.
fellellor··on The False Promise of ChatGPT
Tldr, Chompsky says “them grapes are sour”.
fellellor··on Ask HN: How are the current layoffs affecting non-US developers?
Probably the latter. Must have bought a fancy house, kids go to the best schools in the city etc. I’m not saying this in a disparaging way, but the fact is that cost of living in India is still pretty low if you settle for 2nd or 3rd best.

Computing is slowly transforming into something out of fantasy or sci-fi. It’s no longer an exact piece of logic but more like “the force”. Something that’s capable of wildly unexpected miracles but only kinda sorta by the chosen one. Maybe.
fellellor··on An Overview of Ruby on Rails 7.1 Features. Part III
I think if you have a sufficient number of staff for a particular project, it makes sense to rewrite parts of it now and then to gain a better understanding and also the chance to do things without making the mistakes of the past.
fellellor··on An Overview of Ruby on Rails 7.1 Features. Part III
Elixir also fits every one of those points plus OTP. I think even Spring Boot matches those advantages, except for a working REPL. Or is there a way to use JShell on a running app? I don't know. But Spring Boot apps are super quick to get started on. Much faster than Rails in the boiler plate department.
fellellor··on Programmer salaries in the age of LLMs
Humans have trouble error checking each other's code. Imagine an army of devs who are expected to read and error check a machine. It's an absolute nightmare and fits the literal definition of bullshit job. But if it pays someone will do it. I dont know how one would hire an army of these sad folk though.
fellellor··on Apple Silicon Mac’s have 2-3 times longer battery than PC laptops
I have PTSD from melting laptops so I often find myself checking the surface temp of my M2 air to reassure myself that this is real. On the occasions when it heats up a little - when I'm running 3 instances of intellij, a couple instances of vscode, some 20 tabs in chrome, 50 tabs in Safari in addition to Slack, and maybe a youtube video to just get away from it all - it is a bit disconcerting to me.

You can't frame rules to capture something like "expertise" which has an infinite scope. I don't know how to express it, but it feels wrong. If you could frame such rules then the subject under consideration might be so trivial, making the whole exercise of tagging pointless.

Or maybe you mean you want people to be able to share credentials like a degree and claim expertise without us having to do the extra work of judging the quality of those qualifications?

It would normalise that behaviour. There are plenty of studies that show pornography warps the watchers' minds.

Even video game violence would do it but a vast majority of the experiences are easily identifiable as cartoonish. So it may give you the idea that you slaughtered a 1000 NPCs but each kill is nowhere close to the visceral reality. The games which have a focus on realistic killing, either do so to aliens/monsters or they are so off-putting that they never manage to find a large audience.

In any case I look at the public discourse about war and violence and I find that people are eager to jump into fights and don't think twice about supporting their government in bombing and killing the shit out of other populations. They couch it in some shallow moral argument. Often the deterrent to war isn't some moral concern but the fact that the other side also has significant weaponry and might inflict casualties on your side as well.

In any case I hear a lot of this overton window concept and there is a lot of merit in the argument that excessive amount of AI generated deviant porn content will eventually make people think that all this depravity is normal and we should just look the other way.
