> I have a physical collection of majority of the “greatest hits” from 90s and early/mid 2000s

Would you mind listing your collection? I'd love to add some (many) titles to my (small) collection of old programming books.

felipebueno··on Prevayler: ACID persistence for plain old Java objects (2013)
Take a look at prevayler-clj as well. Only 70 lines of code.

felipebueno··on Spectre.console – Pretty console apps in .NET
I agree!

With .NET Core 3.x it's possible to publish self-contained executables so there's no need to have to the runtime installed.

felipebueno··on Show HN: I made a macOS app to let me draw on the screen while on video calls
Does anyone know an app like that for linux?
felipebueno··on Ask HN: Why aren't wireless screens/monitors available yet?
I recall using something exactly like that with my iPad 1 in 2010. If I remember correctly, it did work quite well for simple programming related applications.
felipebueno··on The NES Homebrew Scene
I haven't read the article yet but, judging by the title, I thinks this is relevant:

felipebueno··on Scrcpy – An app to display and control Android devices
Hey, thank you for such an useful tool! :)

I'm an Android dev currently working on a team using NativeScript. My coworkers' latops have only 4GB RAM and they are unable to use an AVD for development. From now we are going to use scrpy :)

felipebueno··on NESmaker – Make NES Games. No Coding Required
TL-DR: NESmaker is a software tool for creating brand new, hardware playable, cartridge based games for the Nintendo Entertainment System...without having to write a single line of code.
felipebueno··on PX8 – A PICO-8 compatible fantasy console written in Rust
In case anyone is interested in learning more about PICO-8 and it's "clones", I started one of those 'awesome lists' for that last year.

felipebueno··on Going native
Hey, that looks useful! I'll take a look at it later. Thanks! :)

Oh, btw: I read my comment again right now and it sounds a little bit arrogant. I'm sorry about that... By saying it's slow and that I don't like the UI, I mean no offense to you guys.

Actually, I think Postman is a very useful tool and my co-workers seem to love it. I's just not for me and my crappy laptop hahah.

felipebueno··on Going native
Slightly off-topic:

On my current job we use the Postman Chrome app to test out apis. I'm looking for a FOSS command-line alternative to it because it's very slow on my laptop (Linux, Celeron, HDD, 4GB RAM) and the UI makes no sense to me.

I know I could just use cURL (which I do) and/or HTTPie but it would be nice to have options.

Is there any alternative that would suit my needs?

felipebueno··on Whiteboard sticker for your laptop
Staingate is a real thing and @achow's comment is correct and is very useful and that's probably what is happening with @component's mbp.
felipebueno··on Whiteboard sticker for your laptop
Not sure why people are downvoting your comment. It's a real issue you are trying to help.

I had mine replaced for free a few months back as well :)

felipebueno··on Elementary OS
Interesting reading.

Since 2012, I've tried Elementary several times but I always come back to whatever other (Debian based) distro with LXDE because there's one thing, really JUST ONE THING, on Elementary I can't stand: the Application Switcher (alt+tab) animation. It's slow and distracting and, even switching any and every UI animation off, I couldn't speed it up.

I still like the project and I really want to use it as my main OS some day (at least for 1 year or so. I'm always switching OSes)... I'll give it a try again next month to see how things are going.

Same here in Brazil.
felipebueno··on Why most popular GitHub repos are all web related?
Can't see any of the slides. Maybe some issue related to uBlock but I won't turn it off. Can I see it all in one page?
felipebueno··on Getting paid to work on open-source?
I'm full-time contributor on a project called Sneer. Almost one year writing exclusively 100% open-source code. I love it. :)

hmm nice catch :) It would make sense in portuguese as RH stand for Recursos Humanos (literaly Human Resouces).
felipebueno··on Headroom.js – hide your header on scroll
I don't like fixed headers at all and I dislike even more fixed headers that hide on scroll... it's too distracting and useless.

A couple of years ago, when fixed headers became "cool", I'd write scripts for Greasemonkey just to get rid of them. Today I'm too lazy for that :D.

But nice project.
