fandorin··on OpenAI reduces Codex Model Context Size from 372k to 272k
hmm, what about other models?
fandorin··on OpenAI reduces Codex Model Context Size from 372k to 272k
Does the context size really matter that much if a “dumb zone” starts around 120k-150k anyway?
fandorin··on Show HN: Trace – Offline Mac meeting transcripts you can flag mid-call
thanks! will do
fandorin··on Show HN: Trace – Offline Mac meeting transcripts you can flag mid-call
looks great! and good that you decided on the one-time fee instead of a subscription. side question: what did you use to create these videos/gifs on the homepage that shows the app? They look really good!
fandorin··on Ask HN: Do you think AI will end up like dotcom?
100% if will. obviously LLMs will stay with us (same way as internet did) but the burst will happen.
fandorin··on Ask HN: What should I do with my app? 130 downloads 3 real subscribers
1 month is not that long. And also you need to expand your traction meaning: increase the number of downloads. So… marketing. You should try to find your main acquisition channels and focus on this for now, do not spend your time on trying to improve your product if you don’t have higher number of downloads. If it’s a b2c app then usually conversion rate (install-to-purchase) is around 1-4%.
fandorin··on The future of everything is lies, I guess – Part 5: Annoyances
Ok, in this case I misunderstood author's point here. "Agentic commerce" for me is a framework that networks (MC, Visa) and other big players in the ecosystem are working on. So it's far from "i'll give my credit cards details to openclaw and hope for the best". Obviously I know that a lot of people do that, unfortunately...
fandorin··on The future of everything is lies, I guess – Part 5: Annoyances
„Agentic commerce means handing your credit card to a Large Language Model” - this is simply not true. LLMs/Agents will never get any credit/debit card details, they will be just an interface.
fandorin··on Claude API Error: 529
something is totally off today with claude code and its limits. not sure if it’s bug or anthropic sized down the limits…
fandorin··on OpenAI agrees with Dept. of War to deploy models in their classified network
Same here. Removed my account, deleted the app.
fandorin··on OpenAI – How to delete your account
I haven’t used chatgpt for so long now. Only Claude and Gemini. Account permanently removed.
fandorin··on Launch HN: TeamOut (YC W22) – AI agent for planning company retreats
Well, I checked your chat cause I'm planning a company retreat to Athens for two teams - one from Poland, the other from Sweden. And the chatbot told me (after saying what a wonderful destination Athens is) that there are direct fligths from both cities to Athens which is simply not true...
fandorin··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2025 – Show and tell
interesting! how is it going? what’s the average price tag for such projects?
fandorin··on As 'Dorian Gray' ages, its relevance only grows
yes! I’m interested as well!
fandorin··on Meta's Broken API: How Facebook Is Killing Small Developer Innovation
this text looks like LLM-generated…
fandorin··on Ask HN: Is anybody running a successful non-subscription business?
Thanks for your detailed response. I agree with what you wrote. But the key part is: "We sell to business not consumers." --> My product is not business-oriented. Probably there is a small % of businesses that use it but it's definitely not a majority (at least not right now). If I had a B2B product I would just do a subscription without thinking too much.
fandorin··on Ask HN: Is anybody running a successful non-subscription business?
Cool! Did AI halve your income as well? Or did it just affect the traffic (low quality traffic)?
fandorin··on Ask HN: Is anybody running a successful non-subscription business?
That's my feeling as well. I wonder who says that SAAS is dying.
fandorin··on Ask HN: Is anybody running a successful non-subscription business?
Awesome, thanks, I will reach out!
fandorin··on Ask HN: Is anybody running a successful non-subscription business?
Well I guess this is the way forward for me.
fandorin··on Ask HN: Abandoned/dead projects you think died before their time and why?
I do miss Flickr good times... I still cannot find anything like this.
fandorin··on Ask HN: What is Lex Fridman's association with MIT?
no, Lex has barely any connection to MIT. He taught (only once) a January community class, that’s all. If you want to get the full picture, I recommend watching this video: https://youtu.be/Z1Ua1hVRtdE
fandorin··on Ask HN: Pricing strategy for macOS App
thanks but this will not work for my app - I don’t have many competitors plus I don’t need a new pricing page.
fandorin··on Ask HN: What newspaper are you paying for these days?
what about The Economist? Is anybody subscribing it? I’m considering buying the paper subscription.
fandorin··on Gemini 2.5 Flash

fandorin··on Show HN: I built an app to stop me doomscrolling by touching grass
great concept! out of curiosity - what tool did you use to create the main UI app animation/video on the website?
fandorin··on Show HN: I Made an iOS Podcast Player with Racket
yeah, really good looking page, congrats! btw - out of curiosity - what tool did you use to create app screenshots for AppStore?
fandorin··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (October 2024)
English language will have a biggest data of barcodes but other barcodes from other countries should work as well.
fandorin··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (October 2024)
I’m developing a simple iOS app to detect Ultra Processed Food (UPF). The ones that are in Apple Store now are either too complex or paid-only without a chance to test it for free. I believe people should be able to detect UPF and learn how to detect it even without the app (in a long term). I will launch it in 2 weeks max.
