The script will clean the file name and column headers and create the SQL statements to create the db table and upload the file to the database, automatically.
I used this script almost everyday at my past job to upload data from other teams and departments.
I recorded a tutorial on youtube for anyone that wants to try to build it out (links in the README). Hope this is helpful either as a way to easily upload files to a db or as practice getting better building python scripts to automate your work.
A mailing list is nice because you're actually collecting emails and can use them somehow in the future. You could collect emails and then send users a welcome email that also promotes your IG channel. It just wasn't obvious you have an IG channel. Hopefully this is helpful.
I'd love it if you guys could share your thoughts on it! Does this hit the mark as an educational resource to prep for interviews? What can be improved?
And just to be transparent about my end goal here, I'm hoping for this site to be largely free. I just wanted to create a site where people can have technical conversations around data science, and am starting with the niche of interview prep. The coding questions do have an executable IDE with datasets so I do have to charge for most of those questions to pay for my server costs.
My implementation of having 1 solution isn't good enough. I plan on adding a discussion forum to discuss these exact topics.
But thank you for the kind words. I appreciate you taking the time to look at it.
I've spent my career continuously prepping and practicing for technical interviews, specifically SQL and python. I also teach SQL and python as an adjunct professor at a local university.
I built Strata Scratch to help others prepare for their technical interviews and brush up on their skills. I loaded it with over 500+ technical interview questions I've sourced from various sites.
The platform is about 2 years old and is growing. It's only a side hustle of mine but it's continuously improving. It's free to try out but has a monthly subscription if you want to see the solutions, otherwise, you can access all the 500 questions.
Any feedback or feature requests would be greatly appreciated!
I launched it 2 years ago, mainly to help me teach a university class more effectively (I wanted something easy for non-technical beginners to learn). I spend about 5-10 hrs a week bouncing around developing and marketing. I make enough to hire a part-time developer that helps me with engineering. Otherwise, I do everything else myself.
The toughest part for me is marketing. Currently, I do a lot of writing on Medium to talk about the industry and will include a short call out to my platform at the end. I've tried other marketing channels like Youtube and Google ads but haven't found anything that beats writing articles.
While the platform is only 2 years old, I make almost 6 figures in revenue and it keeps growing linearly. My ultimate goal is to passively have this income take over my professional salary so that I can have financial freedom. I plan to continue to work, teach, and run this side business because I love all the different aspects that each venture provides me.
As a 22 year old dev, "valuable" can be defined as writing code and building products while working 60+ hrs a week, which is what many do in SV. As you age, you write less code and contribute to building products in different ways like architecting the platform and thinking about the business more than the product itself. This is what experience gets you as you age.
I think you're saying that the later deserves more compensation and no 22 year old is worth $200k. I don't think that's true. And most of SV doesn't think that's true. SV likes people that can build and make things, and will pay someone handsomely to build a product and iterate.
I've spent my career continuously prepping and practicing for technical interviews, specifically SQL and python, and mainly for marketing analytics and some data science. I also teach SQL and python on the side and need a platform for my students to play around with.
I built Strata Scratch to help people prepare for their technical interviews and brush up on SQL and python. I loaded it with technical interview questions I've sourced from various sites. We created our own underlying datasets and changed the questions a bit keep original and test specific concepts that are often found on interviews.
The platform is MVP-ish, as it's only a side hustle but it's continuously improving. It's free to try out but has a monthly subscription if you want to unlock all the questions. Any feedback would be appreciated.

- getting more sleep - working on my side startup - getting some form of exercise - reading all the things I've queued up during the week - errands around the house - spending time with family
The weekends, I find, are more hectic than the weekdays. There's no set schedule and it changes every weekend.
After 2 years, I finally have a nice SaaS business that's giving me some passive income. What did it for me was that I created a solution that solved MY problem. If you're trying to solve your own problem, turns out you'll spend time on it and most likely many other people have the same problem.
My side project keeps me a bit busy (usually 5-10 hrs a week) but it's really not bad considering that I'm saving time by solving a problem I had.
Just my two cents, as it seems that coming up with the right idea is half the battle.
For the record, I don't charge my students to use the platform :P
