factsarelolz··on Ask HN: How do you protect your children from internet addiction?
Interested in your household. Dual income? Single Income w/SAHP?

What is your plan for Grandparents, babysitters, childcare, or even the school system to help maintain no screens?

No screens seems awfully privileged in a way... maybe you're just Bill Gates

factsarelolz··on ‘Luddite’ Teens
Eh just offer a hard token or yubikey and be done.
factsarelolz··on ‘Luddite’ Teens
Hard token, yubikey
factsarelolz··on Twitter applies 7-day suspension to half a dozen journalists
> The Pelosi attacker got motivated by DECADES of Republican hate propaganda. Not responsible journalism speaking truth to power.

Do you have a citations for this? His son seems to disagree with your depiction of DePePe's political affiliation.

> responsible journalism

We haven't seen that in at least a decade.

factsarelolz··on Twitter applies 7-day suspension to half a dozen journalists
Libs of TikTok literally reposts content made public by the author. LoTT does not create the videos, they do not tell the video creators what to say. LoTT just gives those individuals more of the attention they seek which is the goal of posting said content. If anything LoTT helps normalize the behavior from these creators and gives them a larger bullhorn. LoTT gives publicity to those that are a significant minority.

> UE has a lot of stipulations

Absolutely no auditing was being done. Some states require you reach out to or inquire about at least 2 jobs per week, nothing close to "all of your time" YMMV I suppose.

factsarelolz··on The United States of America vs. Samuel Bankman-Fried Indictment [pdf]
Assuming you cashed out, wouldn't it be something like "that 10% you earned 10 years ago" because if you never cashed out then you're not liable.

My reply would be along the lines of: "Sorry lost it all in MtGox/FTX/Crypto/Vegas/Horses"

factsarelolz··on Bipartisan Legislation to Ban TikTok
China is also suppling the world and the US with very cheap fentanyl.
factsarelolz··on Bipartisan Legislation to Ban TikTok
Man if only the dude that first wanted to ban TikTok wasn't Orange we'd be way past this point already.
factsarelolz··on Washington faltered as fentanyl gripped America
Perhaps adapt to the risk in which the activities you put yourself in?

Plenty of people go to the mall or school without catching a bullet from a "rando"

> The police weren't even interested in the video.

Why would the police want to see a video if no crime has taken place? What did you expect the police to do?

factsarelolz··on Tell HN: Travis CI is seemingly compromised (once again)
Elon did, does that upset you? You say "no one can" but he did. The platform is not on fire, it hasn't been down for any relevant amount of time. Even if it were, it's twitter, not critical infrastructures. Some people won't be able to post hot takes and snarky retorts. Oh my.
factsarelolz··on Apple Music Sing
Probably because Apple doesn't want it advertising to look like:

"Hey we just added a cultural pastime as a feature!"

There are some that could twist this feature into "Apple profiting off of cultural appropriation".

> Be like all the FBI agents refusing to prosecute minority groups or something.

FTFY.

The FBI is a political organization and chooses who they will persecute based on the political leanings of FBI leadership.

factsarelolz··on When McKinsey comes to town
> McKinsey is going to ruin the psychology of a bunch of LGBTQ people with 80 hour work weeks while they union bust foreign nations.

Do the 80 hour work weeks not ruin the psychology of non-LGBTQ folxs?

factsarelolz··on Air Marshals Will Refuse Orders to Go to the Border, Prefer First Class Cabins
Could you cite a source? I thought unemployment was at an all time low. Where are these hundreds of thousands of laid off workers?
factsarelolz··on Twitter engineer: I thought I’d been hacked. It turned out I’d been fired
You don't work 40 full hours a week. No one actually _works_ every single minute of a 40 hour work week. There's lunch for one, bathroom breaks, interruptions by coworkers, meetings that they may not even need you in, etc, etc.
factsarelolz··on Twitter engineer: I thought I’d been hacked. It turned out I’d been fired
This 100%.

Look at how much the employees of SV/FAANG companies donate to politicians and which ones. It's not hard to see the money laundering going on.

factsarelolz··on Twitter engineer: I thought I’d been hacked. It turned out I’d been fired
It's staging data for exfiltration. This is an attempt to take property and data not owned by the employee.
factsarelolz··on Twitter engineer: I thought I’d been hacked. It turned out I’d been fired
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the same when reading those lines.
factsarelolz··on Europe makes shipping vessels pay for carbon emissions
Last I checked essential goods are pretty expensive if you buy locally.
factsarelolz··on EFF Takes a Stance: San Francisco Shouldn’t Arm Robots
You said you still agree with defunding the police but it seems like you're okay with giving the police millions of dollars to buy robots.

So how can you defund, while giving them MORE money/budget for a button that controls the machine shooting someone versus them doing it themselves?

factsarelolz··on EFF Takes a Stance: San Francisco Shouldn’t Arm Robots
> defund the police

Buy the Police millions of dollars worth of armed robots controlled by police.

Kinda special aren't ya?

factsarelolz··on EFF Takes a Stance: San Francisco Shouldn’t Arm Robots
You're taking what they said out of context. They don't want to defund the police they want police reform. Defund the police was an easier chant. Like ACAB, except when needed to combat peaceful protesting from someone you don't like. You can thank the NGOs for spreading "defund the police" while the people affected by the defunding cry for police presence in their high crime areas.
factsarelolz··on How I hang Christmas lights without a ladder
The clear plastic in which they are housed (think rope light) will turn yellow and brittle after a season of sun. Places like Florida, might have to replace due to sun degradation.
factsarelolz··on The Citroen Ami – tiny electric car with no boot, 28mph top speed, 46 mile range
Simply look to China and India of the past few decades. With the US offshoring a majority of their manufacturers to China, it lifted their people out of poverty. The US outsourced a majority of their tech support / call center jobs to India and India has seen the same result. You may also look to Japan and semiconductors, and engines. Note these are only but some and small portions but if you zoom out it’s hard to miss.
factsarelolz··on The Citroen Ami – tiny electric car with no boot, 28mph top speed, 46 mile range
> Is it "increase the standard of living " when it decreases your life expectancy, physical shape

Yes, it increases the standard of living by pulling poor people out of poverty. So the rich consumer nation has their life decreased due to over consumption while increasing the standard of living of those from poorer nations. The rich consumer nation cannot consume AND increase life expectancy at an infinite rate.

> It is NOT America's job to tell Ukraine what to do and what terms to accept. Get that through your conspiracy-addled head

I agree with your statement that it is not the US’ place to tell Ukraine what to do. It is also not the US’ place to send Billions of Dollars in “Aid” to Ukraine. It’s a Ukrainian issue, and the US should have left it at that, but it didn’t because the US saw an opportunity, just like they did in 2014. Did we forget how the US upended the regime and placed Zelensky as leader? Why does the US meddle so much in Ukraine?
