factsarelolz··on Banning Gas Stoves Is a Terrible Idea
> but because reality has passed them by.

Maybe in a 100 years.

factsarelolz··on Ask HN: Are headlights getting brighter or am I getting old?
They are so much brighter.

Fucks with my astigmatisms.

factsarelolz··on Working fewer hours is associated with higher life satisfaction
So what do I do? Don't sell my future memories to support what I created?
factsarelolz··on U.S. safety agency to consider ban on gas stoves amid health fears
Yeah but couldn't you just... run a biodiesel generator to recharge your batteries?

Jan 6, 2000 mules, killers, so many lacking _basic_ OPSEC. Scary to think about what a competent individual can accomplished if given the motivation.

factsarelolz··on The creator economy: the top 1% and everyone else
> Does someone in the Microsoft PR department become a creator because they are filming stuff on the campus and put it onto their YouTube channel

Yes. Microsoft also has specific "evangelists" that create content. Briefings, presentations, talks, videos, blog posts, etc.

factsarelolz··on The creator economy: the top 1% and everyone else
> you are not a creator

You are creating content to drive traffic to a service or product. Are influencers not creators? Is making an ad not creation?

Interested in your definition of creator. Thanks!

I've been putting this off for so long I use to be able to vacuum my entire house 2,500 sqft ish (minus furniture, etc) with battery left over. Now it dies halfway through.

I might follow you and just get a Dyson branded instead of aftermarket.

I have an autonomous standing desk (only company I could find march of 2020 that sold solid 71" long desks that are over 30" wide/deep).

The lowest setting on mine is 26.0", that's still too high? I would imagine a keyboard tray would drop it another 2-3 inches setting your keyboard below 24" from the floor.

Until you realize most corps turn off macros or only have macros on for a small subset of users.

> it's just a little too off-brand for a guy who wears all black and hates texting.

I'm in the boat with style but I threw 20$ at it because I know I'll get a few interesting looks. Might even add it to my "recruiter" resume.

factsarelolz··on The skilled trades haven't caught as a career choice with Gen Z
Weird I've heard exactly the opposite.

The person that does travel welding usually has a setup like a big truck and a pull behind RV. They jump from job site to job site staying campgrounds, county / public property where overnight parking was allowed (previously Walmart parking lots).

As long as the job site is further than 50-100 miles from home you get paid a per diem which granted won't pay for a 4 star hotel, but at 65$ a day (rate depending on location) x 30 (6 5 day work weeks) $1950 then another $25 a day for food $750. This is untaxed and on top of your normal hourly rate. These jobs tend to need to be done on a quick time frame so most do not only work 40 hour work weeks but most are working 60-80 hours. So there is also an insane potential for overtime.

factsarelolz··on NYC officials say they can't find EV garbage trucks powerful enough to plow snow
Government Officials defrauding their constituents is another level higher than private business fraud. Just my opinion though YOMV.

NYC also has a ton of fraud perpetrated by gov employees.

They wouldn't have those jobs if the players or the league did not exist. That's their share. They make a lively hood off the product's operations.

factsarelolz··on Hotels turn to robots and room cleanings every 4 days to ease staffing shortages
> Zero breaks

C'mon man. At least have a serious argument. You act like a person cleaning a hotel room can't stop to use the bathroom or take a few moments to collect themselves before starting on the next room.

Have you ever stayed at a hotel? The staff moves at a normal rate, there doesn't appear to be a rush, they aren't sweating through their clothes. I've seen staff in their phones, texting, changing their music.

factsarelolz··on Hotels turn to robots and room cleanings every 4 days to ease staffing shortages
Physically demanding? What's the difference between cleaning a hotel room and cleaning your house or bedroom? There's absolutely zero heavy lifting. You change the sheets, vaccuum and wipe down everything.

I would option to say taking care of kids is more physically demanding than cleaning.

If it's just supplementary income it wouldn't really matter about benefits as the spouse would already have benefits.

factsarelolz··on Hotels turn to robots and room cleanings every 4 days to ease staffing shortages
This job seems great for moms that want to work part time while their kids are in school. 11 am - 3pm.
factsarelolz··on Twitter applies 7-day suspension to half a dozen journalists
Could you provide a link to a single tweet that gave instructions, times or locations to harass people?

Or

Did LoTT share PUBLIC information about PUBLIC events? Fuck... in the last 24 hours people have lost their fucking minds over Elon's stalking ban and claim it's public information.

Ya can't have it both ways. I know folxs want to but it's not possible.

factsarelolz··on Ask HN: How do you protect your children from internet addiction?
A 2-3 year old sitting there quietly talking, coloring or reading? Yeah it's very very very hard to believe. Even if the child is an absolute saint there's such things as sensory overload.
