Who is buying these things? Private collectors?
You don't have to worry about that
Like they can't comprehend the fact that these things only happen if there is an incentive for it
I think its because they work in games where there is a business incentive for performance, users care a lot if framerate suffers in a game
They are so used to working in games that they take it for granted that the business incentive for performance exists
As someone who has worked in both AAA games and big tech it just comes across as a bit naive to me
IMO you can only get so much out of bite-sized content, if you want real understanding you have to engage in deep long-form content
On one end is huge productivity but bad quality
The other end is normal productivity but good quality
I land closer to the manual coding side with agents, its more productive but I do have to heavily micromanage them
I would guess around 1.3-1.5x productivity
Every layoff just automatically attributed to AI even though they have nothing to do with it
If its so good why aren't you rich?
It may just be a Seinfeld Effect for me though
I get that in the context of literature its quite a unique story/take but I just felt like the concept of life being meaningless/absurd is kind of a tired trope for younger generations
Especially if you are someone who grew up on the internet, depression/meaninglessness was like a mainstream meme in the last decade
It’s only like 70 pages and it’s basically just him comparing how computers and neurons work and speculating on some stuff.
The general takeaway seemed to be that the brain looks digital at first glance (binary activation of neurons) but is actually a lot more complicated and more like a mix of analog/digital.
Now I’m really curious if there are any other modern books that do this comparison more in depth, basically exploring how a brain works but the author has a CS or EE background
This book is from the 50s so I’m sure a lot has changed since then.
No one will blame you for going all in on AI
Isn’t video + audio all you need?
Who actually has time to go back and look at that?
It’s like taking photos of fireworks
Do you know that is how simplistic these studies actually are?
Once you're in the industry no one cares about that and I found in practice people with lower grades than me still ended up at the same or better companies
In retrospect it would have been better to put that time into side projects, interview prep, clubs, socializing
Obviously you don't want "bad grades" but I think there is diminishing returns after a certain point
Obviously its not that exciting to an 18 year veteran
You learn a ton of stuff there as a new grad
CS masters degrees are not really a differentiator in the job market, in my experience the exact same jobs are filled by people with bachelors/masters
Employers are not like "we really need someone with a masters, get me someone with a masters"
I would only do grad school if you actually want to do research/applied research
Keep in mind that a lot of the people on this website are late in their careers (and bored by them) and take having a job for granted so doing a masters sounds more exciting to them.
You may argue what if LLMs are inaccessible but that’s like teachers saying “you won’t always have a calculator”
I have a 150 4-stroke that is fuel injected and it’s way quieter than any motorcycle and has very little exhaust smell
