ew-dev··on “Math 2.0” will need to value mathematical progress more holistically
> simply dumping proofs on the math community and expecting others to > do the grunt work of verifying, refining, and expanding

Hm, kinda reminds me of my college days. "Proof trivial, left as home work." was a sentence my Profs loved to say.

ew-dev··on Beam: Reflection's 501B open-weight model
The open weight community really is an odd one. Millions of Dollars for pre and post training given away for free and most often with very permissive licenses that allow commercial use (be it US, EU or mostly Chinese)

Yet going by the comments on localLlaMA or HN, those companies are the devil :-D. Colour me surprised.

Since the terminal is having its renaissance right now, I find it really great. VS Code with its integrated bash really shines here, all my developer tooling is right there with [CTRL] + [J] (cargo, pnpm, uv, you name it), all the code and docs live right in the repo with the keyboard friendly explorer and general keyboard friendly UX of VS Code (I touch the mouse like once an hour).

And with the gh cli, I dont even need to visit the overloaded github website anymore for PRs, Issues, Discussions etc, I can read it write in my terminal with pure text, no nonesense in it, clean and minimal, exactly what I need to be productive - and like you said, no context switching.

P.S.: It also feels like I am living in those futuristic 80/90s Cyberpunk Animes and Mangas where everything was a terminal/tui B-)

Ever since I discovered `gh`, I stopped going on the website itself. Stuff like this just makes it even more unlikely I'll return :-D
ew-dev··on With most information hidden, the game Stratego had stumped AI until now
Digital Board Games solve this imho very elegantly, since the rules are tracked by the engine for the players (and is always impartial). It also can avoid the onboarding friction.

Just a pity it does not come close to the haptic pleasure of playing with a real cardboard, polished resin figures, and sturdy cards with dice (or whatever accessories are supplied) :-)

You can burn a lot more tokens very quickly for the illusion of increased productivity ;-)

Don't give into FOMO.

Developers just love to spent considerably amount of time and effort into building tooling. Way more than working on the actual products.

But I must admit it is really fun to build your own harness and tweak it to your liking, even if it is never used for professional work ;-)

Pedantic maybe, but technically correct.

Which we all know, is the best kind of correct.
