Also, we've always played the game as in-person LAN, and for the most part the lag has been just fine. Only for really huge end of game final battles with the screen packed with troops did it lag out for us, but being free and all, we'd often gather around one monitor and talk crap at each other while we waited for it to clear up.
Good times.
Legislation is one thing, this is a bad faith move, just dressed up as normal business. It's not.
I’d say the main “feature” id want to see added is a mandatory field on upload to tick if it’s AI content. Then a tag on videos that are Ai and at the account level to filter out AI content.
Otherwise it’s going to be a slops fest.
Yes Age verification for social media was recently enacted into law; but I think we should expect that good companies don't self opt into additional systems of surviellance until such time as they are legally compelled and at the very least have exhausted other options.
It stings harder as I had porkbun pegged as one of the companies standing up for users and pushing back against a surviellance web. Angry and frustrated.
The article is well argued and well written, as far as I’m concerned.
What’s needed if you really want adoption is to define a term; something like 256-ex for extended. Or whatever. But folks and apps need to be able to say; we’ve implemented or we support 256-ex. Without this label is hard to drive adoption.
The heartbleed thing from a few years back best taught me this.
Good luck I hope to see broad adoption it’s a great idea.
Give it a name, better yet move the copy onto a website with the same name also and a little icon folks can add to their website if they implement this k to their terminal app.
I do this on iOS I’m sure it’s do-able on GrapheneOS and hopefully on Android too.
A polished ui and a couple of fav discord features onto the product milestone plan and I think matrix adoption would start to really pick up.
Would love a version that renders a mix of cars and trucks onto any roads, to show up how crap the experience would actually be out front of road facing building.
My usual steps are:
1. Register domain
2. Setup email, including some account for social media
3. Register accounts with main social media services using the social media email address.
Resolve the corporate entity after this first step.
You can hold it as yourself for as long as you need. No harm to having domains except a few dollars of annual cost.
It’s easy for another person to register it at any time, so grab it first.
The scenario of registering a company only to find that someone else bought the domain and you now need to pay them a chunk of money to get started is not where you want to be.
Once these factors start to breakdown, all these intangible forms of holding wealth loose value. Gold remains as a significant reliable long term store of value.
Hence it’s worth maintaining by a nation.
Surely local manufacturers don’t use 100% Canadian made parts.
In a similar way I think what works is to push back against growth only and growth at all costs approaches and back practises and models and communities that are working in other ways.
That and they can be cold booted and stand much more temperature diversity bitter and into frozen temps too.
Just saying, the tech and solar expansion is at run away global growth right now, despite American centric machinations.
Refinements on ways to sell it to neighbours / recharge various EV's / use it for new purposes are all up to you.
There are lots of analogies to self hosting or concepts around owning and controlling your own data, when it's owned by you, you retain soverignty and full rights on what happens.
I'd expect most tech people will value the distributed nature of solar over equivilents, that by design require centralisation and commerical/state ownership and control.
Get your solar, back increasingly distributed approaches, let those pushing centralised agendas be the ones to pay for their grid. Eventually they are forced to change.
As we're finding in Australia, our high solar uptake by citizens.. is pressuring governments to respond, lest their centralised options become redundant. What we found is that as more people moved to solar, the power companies lumped the costs for grid maintenance onto those who hadnt moved yet, actually contributing to even further accelerated solar adoption and pressure to rework the system. Big corporates can lobby for themselves you dont owe them your custom.
Considering the clear markdown lineage id expect there would be easier memorability and discoverabilty of the project if it included ‘mark’ in the name.
Otherwise I’d say it looks like you’ve put considerable thought into this well done on getting it out there.
Walking in nature (aka trees around) has proven health benefits also.
