It's even more useful for complex expressions e.g.

  f'{f(x, y)=}' -> 'f(x, y)=5'

The Thinkpad T490 (not the T490s) does have upgradeable RAM -- we settled on it for all our new developer machines. It's got an amazing keyboard and is fairly lightweight, but has every port you'd need, even VGA (and costs ~$1,000 for 8GB/256GB SSD).

The question is fairly bad, but reneging on the offer on your first day on the job isn't all peachy either.

evgenyp··on Heroku Kafka
One key ability is to batch updates.

We just implemented Kinesis (AWS service similar to Kafka) to reduce load on our Elasticsearch database (~50GB) when running hundreds of individual jobs.

Individual tasks (implemented in Celery, actually running off Redis) push to a Kinesis stream which is then consumed in batches by a very simple processor.
