evantraverson EQ: A video about all forms of equalizers

I knew this was a Posy video before even opening the link.

evantraverson PKM apps need to get better at resurfacing information

I agree with the author, but the irony is that resurfacing is akin to UI friction. I resurface content in a journal because I have to flip pages to find the content I seek.

I've emulated some of the features the author wants in my obsidian using Dataview, but it's more the human ritual of review that accomplishes this for me.

I do agree, there is a good product there.

evantraverson Apple's Liquid Glass is prep work for AR interfaces, not just a design refresh

I 100% agree that this is the strategy that they are taking… but I wonder if the hardware will catch up fast enough to make the bet pay off.

evantraverson Show HN: ChatGPT UI for rabbit holes

I can't believe no one has mentioned Andy Matuschak's work on his notes, "Andy-mode:" https://twitter.com/andy_matuschak/status/156803277302543155...

It's a really clever use of the UI, and I think he'd be happy with it.

evantraverson Ask HN: What software did you purchase that positively impacted your family life

This a thousand times. The number of times my spouse has said "hey, can I buy… oh wait. We've enough in the budget. Cool."

evantraverson A review of the Planck keyboard – 48 keys are plenty

I put together a list of odd keyboard layouts if you want to ask any of the folks who volunteered for my post: http://evantravers.com/articles/2019/04/20/community-post-40...

evantraverson ITerm2 is now integrated with tmux terminal multiplexer

Great update… kind of missing the default window size option. :(

evantraverson Why it's the late Cretaceous for server side MVC frameworks

I really want to know what everyone thinks about this… I've been teaching myself RoR to catch up, and now I'm a bit worried I need to be learning node.js or backbone.js.

evantraverson [dead]

I would love to have this as a wallpaper.

evantraverson Cray XK6 supercomputer smashes petaflop record

I imagine my professor Dr. Hyatt will be pleased with this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Hyatt

evantraverson Show HN: My GitHub iPhone app

The big thing I really would like to see is an ipad app that allows me to edit my files in Textastic. This looks very nice though.

evantraverson Saying Goodbye to Pylons

I'm curious about this myself. I'm trying to pick one to go with, it's a toss up between rails and django right now.

evantraverson Pentadactyl, improved vim bindings for Firefox

I really really want to love pentadactyl, but the interfering with google app shortcuts is a major fall through. I just don't see the huge advantage, when most of my browser tasks already have shortcuts. I do like the /-search, but I already use Firefox's accessibility options to do it. I just don't know.
