eunice··on Google defends dropping chat federation with inaccurate comments
Google have spent years building a brand out of how """open""" they are; a lot of their marketing/fud is based around it.

It was 'cool' because it's a really nice mobile app experience. Flickr didn't have this until, uh, a week ago. (& that app is absolutely Instagram inspired)

It was obviously going to 'go south' with the FB acquisition, though.

trying to get their users onto proprietary gmail apps / webmail where they can eventually ramp up the advertising & personal information harvestry
eunice··on Google’s sync changes are going to screw Gmail users on Windows Phone
Nobody is freeloading.

Again:

People pay for Google's consumer offerings with personal information.

eunice··on How to get free single-user Google Apps accounts
Again, people are missing this: Google apps 'free' & even regular gmail have never been truly free. Anything you put in there is sold off to the ad partners. It has never been a charity.
eunice··on Google Apps stops accepting free sign-ups
Re: everybody saying this was a 'free' service - Google were still harvesting & selling off anything you put in there. It wasn't truly free.
eunice··on The Gmail app for iPhone and iPad: version 2.0
Google's business is 'harvesting & indexing personal information' so they kinda need to support iOS.
