Matomo uses php
ethor··on Bitcoin-collateralized loans coming to Coinbase
I love how you refer to old traditional money (fractional reserve banking) backed by states with military power as bogus money, in regards to Bitcoin.
ethor··on The Swedish phoneme notorious for having a dedicated IPA symbol, /ɧ/ (2016)
More similar to the sh sound in shell (am swedish).
ethor··on Show HN: Taken Photos – Free Stock Photos Annotated by AI
Is there anyway to read more about the technical bits regarding how this is done, i.e. how are the annotations made?
ethor··on A researcher needed three hours to identify me from my DNA
In Sweden we have ”Mobilt bankid” which is a digital identification that you download from your bank and then assign a password to it. After this has been completed you can identify yourself through an official app. Most serious organizations asks you to identify yourself through this app when handling business over the phone.

ethor··on Ask HN: I'm hiring my first employee – literature recommendations?
I agree with using open questions to assess the candidate. I somewhat agree, as the saying goes "planning is everything, the plan is nothing".
ethor··on Ask HN: I'm hiring my first employee – literature recommendations?
I'll make a submission if it results in something interesting.

I have read the prince but I'm not sure I want to foster that kind of company culture... ;) I will definitely check that book out, thank you!

ethor··on Emissions of banned, ozone-depleting chemical CFC-11 have climbed 25% since 2012
There seem to be some trails pointing towards SE asia. From the article:

ethor··on Why Killing Cash is Key to MasterCard’s Competitive Strategy
Also, the governmental opportunity to revoke non-desirable citizens the privilege to make commercial transactions.
ethor··on Why Killing Cash is Key to MasterCard’s Competitive Strategy
Purely noble motives regarding removing cash from society, right? It essentially gives international financial corporations oligopoly over commercial transactions.

And for those of you that cherish privacy, imagine the tracking possibilities in a society where commercial transactions no longer can be pursued anonymously.

ethor··on Tydlig – Calculator Reimagined for iPad and iPhone
It is Swedish for apparent (clear).
ethor··on They want to hire me. What should I do?
There is a lot of speculation here. There could be plenty of plausible reasons as to why he would leave the company e.g. a better offer from elsewhere, family reasons.
ethor··on Yes, there is a better search engine (1998)
"The irony here is that the big portal sites are the ones, increasingly, making it harder to use the Web: They’re under such pressure to turn a profit to justify their market valuations that their pages have become crowded, blinking arrays of commercial distractions. Meanwhile, they’re failing to drive forward the technology at the root of their business."

Striking similarities to Facebook's current position.
