I doubt they axed an entire team for monetary reasons alone. They could have axed 1/10th the employees in the bay area and probably covered the entire India roster (financial cost wise).
Focus on what you _can_ control. Mainly, your skill set, interview preparation and networking.
Take a couple days off and get in a good mindset. Spend time with our spouse, children, family, etc.
Then hit it hard-- get up to speed on your skills. Prepare for interviews like it's the Olympics. Network. Polish your resume. Polish your portfolio/public presence.

I personally symmetrically encrypt my ssh keys and send them to my wife every six months or so. I also send them to a burner gmail account I use basic password auth with.
In a chaotic moment I can just ask my wife to download the file from her email and I can decrypt and ssh into my server where I store all files and important things encrypted.
Isn’t there a better case to be made to strive towards open hardware and driving a community around common hardware and goals? Something like system76, the pine hardware, etc.
