esherr··on Show HN: I made a visual NFT collection
Yeah gas is high. I actually made the entire project on an unknown network called Zilliqa, but ported over last minute and was slapped in the face by the gas... That's the thing, the attributes are immutable (mostly) :)

It's ERC721, and cubes are non-fungible. I made it so the contract token ID corresponds to the cube ID directly, as a little nice-to-have (it was really just a big pet peeve when it wasn't). That's a really good question: not once did I consider that cubes could be fungible; I'd always assumed that they'd have the intrinsic property of a (x,y,z) location tied to their ID. I'm reachable at esher@projectcube.io :)

Hiyaa all Esher here! Happy to see my side project getting some attention :)

So I'm just a final year CS student that wanted a hands-on experience with some blockchain stuff, and thought I'd build an NFT project more on-brand with what decentralization promises, unlike most NFT projects where art and smart contract are held on two different silos, as two distinct entities (on-chain + traditional database/IPFS).

I think what is cool about the project is that the entire NFT is 100% on-chain, and in that vein, the website is 100% static. Website is built with React + ThreeJS so everything is rendered statically and in-browser.

Most of you reading this are cynical about crypto and "web3"; I am in the same boat. I just think it's really cool that I can build something entirely static without having to touch payment integration yet have something that people can "buy". To me, that's what web3 unlocks. A backend that deals with transactions and race conditions and payments and security.

Yeah, and don't mind the price points. You guys weren't my target market haha. Not that that matters anymore with my perfect timing.
