You forgot to add female.

I don't know if Coinbase would take that much BTC and immediately cash it out to USD and transfer to your bank.

The part that should be no problem is the American bank itself, if you ask first for instructions. Coinbase is a legit American entity. Procedure should be same as making large transfers or consolidations of IRAs or liquidating brokerage holdings to buy a house.

MIT grads need to stay in their lane. This kind of incompetent deceit at the highest levels of power and influence is supposed to only be possible with a degree from or Harvard and Yale.

edit: what I mean, trollishly, is that I expected more conscientiousness from a room of MIT quant types, even if business process and diligence was not in their wheelhouse.

Twitter's lawyers will pursue billions in remedies through every conceivable route, for decades if necessary.
erosenbe0··on Vets today are like doctors yesterday
Try a grody dental clinic in a low rent, low income area and you might find less of the extractive pricing.
erosenbe0··on Vets today are like doctors yesterday
It varies. But often it is less regulated or more efficient. There will be 10 suppliers of a generic medication rather than 2 or 3. 8 years for college and med school won't literally include 2 to 3 years of vacation. And so on.

FDA 2.0 the complete rewrite is a good idea.

Things used to get overhauled more regularly. The last however was probably 20 years ago with the creation of the Department of Homeland Security. Since then, crickets.

Veterinary medicine technically deals with property, not really loved ones. Numbered dairy cow or muddy sow needing a c-section is an asset, not a loved family member. Pets are loved but they are property with negligible economic value, unlike a human life.
erosenbe0··on Vets today are like doctors yesterday
Not even close! Supply of veterinarians has been artifically constrained by insufficient expansion of veterinary schools, which has caused truly nasty market effects. Pet pharma is relatively highly regulated with American consumers paying high prices that are detached from market costs. Compare prices of medications in livestock vials or drenches vs the pet form.

I think dentistry would be more or a free market. You don't have much of the pharma issue, staffing is okay in some regions, there is decent price transparency, and insurance is not as terribly byzantine as it is for medical.

erosenbe0··on TSMC to customers: It's time to stop using older nodes and move to 28nm
Sorry. I was responding in the context of automotive. There have been so many articles about the automotive chip shortage mentioning Intel. It's seems like filler by uninformed journalists. Intel is not a top dog in auto and most of Intel's auto qualified parts are in the Altera line actually made by TSMC.

Intel is still very very relevant overall to server, networking, and consumer space. Huge revenues!

Doubtful the story you heard is correct.

Too many mainstream articles on semiconductors are just vague, uncheckable facts combined with filler that seems to have been suggested by Intel's PR department, even when Intel is totally irrelevant. Intel needs delicious subsidies!

erosenbe0··on Nonprofit boards are weird
Non-profit space is almost always dominated by healthcare. Charity and charities are bit players.
erosenbe0··on Alzheimer’s amyloid hypothesis ‘cabal’ thwarted progress toward a cure (2019)
It's the scandals on stuff like Albendazole that make y'all evil, not the cancer drugs. I mean the FDA forces us to live like we are in some Soviet style dystopia. Some ancient commodity antiparasite drugs that are cheap as salt -- so abundant that people literally use them as a drench on livestock -- can only be bought from one or two approved marketers (manufacturers), through only approved distribution channels, only at approved retailers, after unnecessary high-skilled laborers press some buttons, and only after you have the right script from the right gatekeepers.

Noble. Thanks for standing up for a cause. Amazon and other large caps have some sketchy patents but shouldn't we judge as follows: A) Does Amazon use its patent portfolio largely on defense, never broadly asserting sketchy patents? B) Does Amazon ever sell tranches of patents to non practicing entities?

The families I know with very expensive sedans often drive their other vehicle in snowy weather.

From a layperson perspective maybe something like Fermat's Principle is what you are curious about. It also seems one can usually encode/send combinatorial problems into some other space or representation and decode them back into the discrete world. Generating functions and such.

Yep. The air quality issue does create anxiety for several relatives who live or visit Silicon Valley. There can be a few days a year that are intolerable for those with particular sensitivity and they must cancel their engagements and head out of town, or hole up in room with a quality purifier.

Can't really say that is a problem where I live, although recreational fires in fire pits are increasingly annoying as people increase outdoor gatherings in covid times.

Mostly just being sparky as far as hellscape but the air quality can be nasty in Palo Alto several days a year. Some people are indeed forced to take time off work and head out of town.
erosenbe0··on Italian CPU – The Genesys B52 MMX
Hopefully the visit will not coincide with an epic fire, in which case it will indeed feel like a hellscape.

ST, Infineon, ARM, NXP, and ASML are based in Europe. So nothing to sneeze at.
erosenbe0··on In a small trial, drugs seemed to rejuvenate the body’s ‘epigenetic clock’ (2019)
HGH seems to increase insulin resistance so without other interventions (e.g. metformin) it may be pro-aging.

Exceptional athletes in general may not have the same lifespan as age-matched healthy counterparts so not a good population to look at.

erosenbe0··on Update on Hiring Plans
I hope you're stance assumes you know why the candidate reversed. If you don't know for a fact that it was a cynical or frivolous ploy, then it can't have much bearing on their reputation. Perhaps they accepted the offer, closed their search, and something came up. Perhaps a bad thing, such as cancer or rehab or mental care, or a neutral thing like their military spouse was transferred.
erosenbe0··on Update on Hiring Plans
Any time a company or team needs short-term superficial progress you may see the lying and then the churn mill. Stakeholders or taxpayers are duped over the long-term but someone is clearly making out no worse for the wear.
erosenbe0··on Grade Inflation: Over 82% of Harvard '22 Graduating With Over a 3.7 (A-) GPA
I can agree with that take. "The processes" ideally would filter the less suitable to more marginal positions of influence.
erosenbe0··on Grade Inflation: Over 82% of Harvard '22 Graduating With Over a 3.7 (A-) GPA
So we are saying that Harvard and Yale are overrepresented when it comes to leaders of superlative moral depravity, perfidy, and mendacity?
erosenbe0··on Grade Inflation: Over 82% of Harvard '22 Graduating With Over a 3.7 (A-) GPA
This has been obvious since 1865. We only have a United States because self-educated Abraham Lincoln picked up the pieces left by elite New Englanders like Buchanan and the justices who decided Dred Scott.

True, all of the top schools have a problem with either attracting or nurturing unethical clowns of blockbuster proportion.
erosenbe0··on Grade Inflation: Over 82% of Harvard '22 Graduating With Over a 3.7 (A-) GPA
Harvard and Yale have 10x horrible negative character connotations compared to MIT or UChicago, and it gets worse all the time.

McNamara (Vietnam), Kissinger (illegal bombing of Laos), Clinton (impeached), Bush (WMD lies), Ted Cruz and other senators who literally can't pass 7th grade science. I can continue for an hour.

erosenbe0··on Grade Inflation: Over 82% of Harvard '22 Graduating With Over a 3.7 (A-) GPA
I thought Harvard was just a terrible school for uppity people?

There are maybe five U.S. senators with Harvard degrees who can't pass a 7th grade climate science unit.

You don't see this from MIT, Chicago, Berkeley, Northwestern.

I can't really imagine a worse school. Except Yale.
