epimetheus2··on Ask HN: How to get back hacker's mentality and joy of coding
sorry I tried, I'm too in love with Scala :-) even so much that I feel so unproductive in anything else that I'm almost frustrated

Indeed, I am/was flow junkie

Thank you :-)

The last sentence hit home, thank you. I get huge motivation boost whenever anyone uses anything I make (even if it's single person). So perhaps aiming towards anything that excludes revenue is the way to go. It's a bit difficult because I'm maybe overly focused on money/paycheck. But your comment to "exclude revenue" hits home.

This is true. I'm ok with not enjoying work too much. But I'd still like to be able to get lost in zone and code till 2am on my personal project

Thank you for tips. I don't think I can live with only one cup of coffee though :D

I'll be brutally honest - I'm very tied financially to large paychecks that I can earn with Scala :-(

If you could write it down I'd be very grateful and go through it all.

Thank you for your consideration. My mental state is pretty ok I think, I'm overall cheerful person, it's just that I'd like there to be more meaning than work.

It's been gradual decline in joy.

I want to stay with Scala. I love it, enjoy it, and play with it to build some frontends (scala.js) on my own. I feel like I've been learning and improving my whole career to become the best engineer I can be, only to then not be interested in building anything.
epimetheus2··on Ask HN: How do some email clients track 'who read' the email?
very insightful, thanks
epimetheus2··on Ask HN: How do some email clients track 'who read' the email?
wouldn't then CC, BCC and TO headers not fit? and emails form different thread, i.e. in gmail?
epimetheus2··on Ask HN: How do some email clients track 'who read' the email?
how would that work? so every recipient would receive different email content with different pixel?
epimetheus2··on How to learn to stop being constantly stressed under pressure as software eng?
Thank you, I edited it. I thought it's automatic with questionmark on the end.

I would like to get stock options first, and I kind of like the engineering part of the work. I also take great ownership for things I built. The job would be perfect if I didnt feel so stressed out.
epimetheus2··on How to learn to stop being constantly stressed under pressure as software eng?
Thanks, I did crunch where I only slept 16 hours during 4 days, because there was immense pressure on me and my team due to conference. And then it was obviously not needed (they used video), so I felt only being used to work as much as possible.

But I think that maybe the problem is in ME, that Im just not able to face some pressure without overworking.
