Yes, smartphone camera's are awesome now, but it's sad an awesome product like that will be thrown away after a year of use.
No wonder the earth is warming... You really need a new phone every year just for the camera ? I really don't get why anyone would do that without an actual professional need.
It just felt like a gnome reskin, some clunky apps and insane defaults settings on top of ubuntu making everything worse just to please mac users. And yet it doesn't bring anything new on the table and is still way less pleasing to use than macOS (or mac has been doing really bad since the last time I used it).
If some few people really find it nice to use, good for them. But it's no suprise elementary OS is failing.

Well, speaking for most mortals doing programming : once you'll find a job, you'll mostly learn languages and tech usefull for your job, not niche languages. And not everyone like programming enough to keep learning niche languages outside of work hours. And once looking for another job, you'll mostly learn languages and stuff usefull to find an interesting new job.
If you have the time and interest to learn a ton of niche languages, good for you. And maybe you'll be able to create a start-up with your epic Haskell skills, the "enlightenment" you got from learning niche languages and the golden spoon you were born with.
And almost nobody is talking about what Scalapay actually do, not in the article, not in here. How is this payment platform different than the other ones ? What tech are they using ? Is crypto-currency involve ? Do they actually propose apps on android and iOS to do payment for shop owners ? Is it nice to use ? What the point of paying everything in 3 times ? What will they do with 497 millions dollars ? You could create 497 payment companies with that money.
I also heard good things about Pass "the standard unix password manager". Great for those wanting to use the command line and git to manage their passwords.
A more accessible solution is Firefox password manager : it works rather nicely and at least it's not owned by a company trying to make money on password management.
I'm now using the nextcloud bookmarks extension, but it's rather slow, seems unmaintained, most android apps & browser extensions don't work anymore (way worse than pocket, but at least there is no adds)
You can do nearly everything "the computing cloud" offers without it : just use servers, install your services on it, manage it, invest in more servers/ more powerfull servers if needed... Cloud computing is not a brand new invention, it's just delegating the server and services management to others... Whereas, a century ago, electricity was actually an essential input.
