realistically once you realize just how easy it is to actually get around passwords and such, you tend to go with something good enough to keep the rabble out and easy to remember. For example, my local windows password is a bit of a joke, because its so absurdly easy to get into a windows machine and do whatever the hell you want. Even easier if you don't care about getting found out. And I am much more concerned with someone getting my facebook or netflix password through social engineering than an actual "hack" anyway.
... So what youre saying is that my galaxy nexus' inability to list cm11 "M" releases (and forcing me to download them manually when they come out) is actually a security feature?
you know, if you go to Harvard for a law degree, you might be smart enough at the end of this to beat whatever case he tries to bring against you when you reneg on the nda.
Its one of the reasons I am "anti" university. I would love to go to university to learn, but I don't have the money and I refuse to put myself deeply in debt just to get a piece of paper to prove to that I have an education.
My only take away is that a German asked a Russian about joy and that sounds like the start to a great joke. I mean they are the most stereotypically serious countries in Europe.
When are we finally going to admit that this guy is a real life bond villain? We need to stop him before he relocates to a volcano lair and threatens the earth with a space-based laser beam.
This might be the most heartwarming story I've ever heard. I think even if I'd stopped working at the airport, I'd show up to do my job for 4 days a year.
saying flat design is a danger to tablets is thinking wrong. They aren't thinking like a user, where all the pretty little pictures do something and you can interact in the tablet in new and exciting ways. We don't need a scrollbar to tell us the list can scroll, we should be able to figure it out by the way it runs off the page. We don't need a 3d-esque button to know that clicking on the box labeled "send" (or the little paper airplane icon) will ship off our letters. Everything is touchable and does something. If someone sits down at your app and doesn't realize that they can interact with the element, or tries to interact only to find out that they can't, flat design hasn't failed you - good Design has failed you.
.... Gay people aren't criminalized in the USA. Sure, the south may have large swathes of intolerant rednecks, but considering that gay people regularly parade through some of our biggest cities in assless chaps (I assume. Its the cliche and its a funny point) I think we are already leaps and bounds ahead of Russia. We have a good handful of states that recognize gay marriage and the army decided to recognize and allow them. Any resistance to gay marriage is losing traction fast. Meanwhile, Russia just declared it illegal to spread "Homosexual Propaganda" which includes holding hands or kissing. Plus they practically hunt gay people for (very public) sport.
It sounds like it will only be available to people who support the crowdfunding. I'd love to buy one, but I'm on CDMA at the moment and committing to buying a phone 9 months out seems a bit idiotic, especially when you consider that I'd have to switch service providers before I can even use it. I think I would buy the phone (I love the concept) but its not something I can commit to so far in advance, even if it means missing out entirely.
The problem with red light cameras is that they encourage blind obedience to rigid traffic laws, and not driving safely as dictated by the road conditions. There are plenty of legal situations where a driver might "run" a red without having done anything "illegal" or dangerous, such as getting caught in the middle of an intersection. I'm in favor of ripping them all down, as their only real function is to suck money out of the taxpayers pockets.
You're an absolute bloody idiot iff (programming joke!) you use dropbox for syncing your project files. Its not smart to use it as a repository because a change by one becomes a change for all. And of course its going to be taxing on the cpu, everytime you compile and test every file gets updated/recreated and dropbox has to work to upload the changes to the server. Why don't you try using a real versioning/repo tool like Bazaar or git or svn instead of the lunacy of trying to make dropbox get the job done. And you should have to manually do a commit at the end of the day because you need to document your changes if anyone is going to have any hope of picking up where you left off; therefore the argument that you would have to remember to restart dropbox is invalid. Why don't you stop being lazy and actually do your job?
