Tone does not translate well through text.

If you can tell sarcasm from text, that doesn't mean everyone can.

For my part, the smiley face was much-appreciated as I've seen people who genuinely would think that with a straight face.

--- EDIT: Spelling of a word

Not when you're autistic (which I am). ;D
encrypted_bird··on Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution
Okay, but to be fair you did say "in real life", which implies not on Signal or WhatsApp.
encrypted_bird··on You are not your job
Nah, it's okay. I'm not gonna be homeless thankfully. My bills are getting paid, food is on the table, and so forth. But that also means I don't really have much money for nonessentials. For example, my _monthly_ "Fun" budget? Only $8.10.

What can I say? Retail does not provide a living wage.

encrypted_bird··on Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution
Yeah, no worries, I'm pretty terrible at reading sarcasm on the best of days. Haha.
encrypted_bird··on You are not your job
I only ever feel like "me" when I'm not at work. I work in retail, and every minute I'm at that job I feel my soul dying just that little bit more. But I go there because I like to not starve, which by the way I've done and lemme tell ya: it ain't fun.

> Your average person doesn't know how to grow their own food

And, you know the sad part? A lot of places don't allow you to even try to learn. For example, my current place that I rent has a yard (it's a nice little trailer home), but I'm not allowed to have a garden. They even chopped down the nice tree that was growing in the yard when I first moved in.

Oh, I can certainly try to grow stuff inside in containers, but that means I gotta get containers (which I can't afford) and I get an increased risk of bugs & dirt being in the house (not a fan thanks).

I fear the day when that happens.

Hey, tone doesn't translate well over text, they did not use anu tone tags, and I'm already terrible at reading tone in the best of times. Lol, can you really blame me for at least asking? Haha.
encrypted_bird··on Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution
Yeah, nope, you're right. Not sure why my brain thought "The". Haha. I blame on the roughlu 2½ hours of sleep I got last night. Yay insomnia!

I'm not sure where you live, but try going to some of the super-small towns in the Midwest. I unfortunately still see people openly wearing MAGA hats and have MAGA flags on the flag poles in their yards.

Trust me, as sad as it is, those people still exist.

> duties they haven't been trained to perform

Which implies they've been trained?

encrypted_bird··on Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution
It has. (Unless you're being sarcastic, in which case I'm not surprised it went over my head. Lol.)
encrypted_bird··on Department of State advises Americans worldwide to exercise increased caution
They're not; they're speaking colloquially: this is the word "It's" omitted from the beginning.

*EDIT*: Corrected word. Lol.

encrypted_bird··on Mozilla to launch free built-in VPN in upcoming Firefox 149
I didn't know that, but it doesn't surprise me. The hyperconservative scumbags (alas I repeat myself) will stoop to anything to shove their beliefs on everyone else.
encrypted_bird··on Mozilla to launch free built-in VPN in upcoming Firefox 149
1. That's an opinion piece, not a piece of investigative journalism.

2. That's from 5 years ago; who knows if this is even still the case, even assuming it's as widespread as the opinion piece claims.

3. See my second point.

encrypted_bird··on Mozilla to launch free built-in VPN in upcoming Firefox 149
Oh shove off with this Puritan attitude. First off, you're implying most of PornHub is rape. That'a ridiculous; no one is uploading videos of actual rape to PornHub.

Secondly, porn ≠ abuse. It's an actual industry and so obviously the treatment of women varies by company.

Simply put, if you don't like porn, DON'T WATCH IT. Don't try to shove your personal beliefs on everyoje else.

It's almost like competition is critical for a healthy marketplace! (Seriously, I _don't_ understand why this is such a hard concept for a lot of people to understand...)

Exactly this. I use KeePassXC and the number of sites where auto-input doesn't work even if the URL is 100% correct in the entry properties is _frustratingly_ high.

As someone who's looking into possibly getting a YubiKey 5 NFC actually, I would like to ask: if you can't export the entries, if you make a backup of the YubiKey (perhaps with the magic of buying two of them), then how would one ensure redundancy?

Okay I think I just misunderstood. I guess I was assuming "paying for the service anonymously" meant "paying such that the person using the service is anonymous", not "anonymously paying for the service". Haha. Syntax is fun!

How would one access it if one needed to do config changes or, really, anything the server for legitimate purposes?
