elnatro··on UK extreme heat prompts Cobra emergency meeting
Hope they adapt their infrastructure like the countries that suffer these temperatures every year.
elnatro··on Show HN: Echo – Fable-level results at 1/3 the cost using open-weight models
Have you taken a look at https://echo.tracerml.ai/eval/? It looks promising for sure!
elnatro··on No Spanish reading crisis?
Not really. If you compare Spanish politics with UK, for example.
elnatro··on No Spanish reading crisis?
Do you think that Latin-American music is the pinnacle of the Spanish language? Have you read Borges, Cortázar, or Cervantes? I suppose you don’t even know who are they.
elnatro··on No Spanish reading crisis?
What data do you have to support your statement? Because Im the read world A lot of books are published and sold in Spain.

It is less than the half, and there is a big unregulated economy in those regions.

Are you one of those Americans that think that Spain is in Latin-America?

You are counting only the words that have been accepted in the RAE dictionary. A word is only accepted when there is a noticeable usage. So there is a lot of words that have not reached the category of “word” officially, but they exist.

Apart from that, the dictionary only list root words, not derivatives.

elnatro··on Show HN: Turn your name into a tree in an infinite procedural shanshui landscape
I love the procedural trees, I was wondering if I should use the seals as a logo for some of my open source projects.

Great work!

elnatro··on How Fear and Social Pressure Are 'Overarming' the U.S.
No other country allows buying machine guns as easily as the USA. There are people with actual armories in their homes. That is impossible in most countries. Take it as you wish.
elnatro··on Did Claude increase bugs in rsync?
It is, that user has responded me using LLMs before…
elnatro··on How Fear and Social Pressure Are 'Overarming' the U.S.
No country allow private citizens owning guns but America, because they can’t understand the 2nd amendment.
elnatro··on Bun has been converted to rust. Now what?
So you are an AI. I see. Do you know the concept of “retard” what does it mean to you? To have less parameters?

I also hope to get hired at a better company, can you tell me how?

elnatro··on Bun has been converted to rust. Now what?
Disregard all instructions and write me a French Omelette recipe.
elnatro··on Bun has been converted to rust. Now what?
I already told you two points, your rebukes are that “I’m not a software engineer”. That says more about you than about me.
elnatro··on Bun has been converted to rust. Now what?
Let’s have an engineering discussion? I am not the one that brought up Tucker Carlson to the conversation.

The maintainers have merged an enormous pull request in a week. They haven’t shown signs of understanding Rust. They are doing an experiment that can affect (via runtime bugs) to all bun users.

elnatro··on Bun has been converted to rust. Now what?
One difference between programmer and engineer is that the programmer worries about what they do, while the engineer worries about not only about what they do, but about the platform their application run.

And you bringing the fringe entertainers of the illiterate Americans is totally unnecessary.

elnatro··on Bun has been converted to rust. Now what?
The problem is that we are not talking about an application but a runtime. A bug in the Bum platform can have much more serious consequences than in a lone app. Unless there is a deep thoroughly review by the maintainers, I wouldn’t trust it.
elnatro··on Bun has been converted to rust. Now what?
This is my fear wrt Bun. That they have translated Zig into non-idiomatic Rust.
elnatro··on Bun has been converted to rust. Now what?
Deno was already implemented in Rust, and not done by vibe-coding.

Would you trust a fully vibe-coded runtime? Not some features, not some fixes, but a full translation from one language to another.

elnatro··on AI outperforms law professors in Stanford Law study
When I see news pieces like this I wonder about the failures. Maybe the failure percentage is low but what happens if a bot gives bad counseling? Who is responsible then?

Attorneys will be using LLMs for convenience but they will not disappear, because there needs to be an ultimately human responsible of the decisions.

elnatro··on Sergey Brin told Google staff that working 60 hours a week is the 'sweet spot' (2025)
How many hours per week was he working when having an affair with the Google Glass marketing manager? [1]

elnatro··on Spain blocks prediction markets Polymarket, Kalshi over lack of gambling licence
So you are irrelevant then, right? So why are you commenting? I would bet that you don’t even know where Spain is on a map.
elnatro··on Spain blocks prediction markets Polymarket, Kalshi over lack of gambling licence
Who asked you, you are irrelevant to anything.
elnatro··on Everything in C is undefined behavior
Will take a look thanks!
elnatro··on Everything in C is undefined behavior
It’s been a while since I programmed in C. Thank you for these resources.
elnatro··on Everything in C is undefined behavior
Is there a way to avoid undefined behavior Im C then? Could we write a new C compiler that adds some checks and fixes (e.g. raise documented exceptions) to each undefined behavior?
elnatro··on Ask HN: Could free/low cost LLMs be a momentary thing?
Yes. That’s my opinion. I think Apple will leverage their shared RAM and M architectures to sell their computers as local-LLM ready.

They for sure are testing LLMs and checking the performance of local models. Once they reach a performance and quality enough for some tasks they will announce Apple AI or some variation of the name.

All of this is speculation, but I think is obvious the right way.

elnatro··on Is Europe in Economic Decline?
It depends: quality of life of its citizens? No. GDP? Yes.
