eli··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
It would be weird if consumers were completely price insensitive.
eli··on America.gov
I very much doubt it's free.
eli··on Sonnet 5.5
I read they identified a training bug and were going to push out an updated release to fix the looping. I really like it overall.

GLM 5.3 Flash is also very good. I think a little smarter and a little more expensive.

eli··on Sonnet 5.5
Hopefully some faster providers will start offering mimo-v2.6-pro because it's cheaper and benchmarks better than Deepseek
eli··on Sonnet 5.5
Why isn't that worth reading into? I care about the experience of actually using the model, not hypothetically what it could achieve without overactive guardrails
eli··on Kids turned low-traffic NPR Spotify comments into a secret group chat
I went through this same experience moderating the comment section of a business news site nearly 20 years ago. I think they needed to find a site not blocked by the firewall in the school computer lab.
eli··on Sonnet 5.5
Those are just 3 particular technical benchmarks. Presumably Opus is a larger model and has greater world knowledge.
eli··on Musk, the Movie
I saw it and though the filmmaker clearly has a point of view, I really doubt anything in it is libelous. The "worst" things it says about Musk are factual and have been reported elsewhere. It doesn't break a ton of new ground. If anything, I was surprised how much time it spent talking about how cool and innovative SpaceX rockets are.
eli··on Musk, the Movie
It’s obviously got a point of view but most of what’s in it has been reported elsewhere. The value is mostly putting it together in an engaging package, plus some interviews with a couple of ex partners. And some interesting archival footage of a younger Musk I’ve never seen (though also never looked)

Overall an OK movie despite few bizarre directorial choices: letting interviewees speculate about things that are almost certainly not true in a few places, and “interviewing” an AI generated Musk on camera. Also it’s 4 hours long.

eli··on Musk, the Movie
Yes, but it’s not quite as bad as it sounds (though still should’ve been cut)
eli··on An agent used DNS to reach an external chatbot
Not connecting it to a network with internet access would probably be a good start.
eli··on An agent used DNS to reach an external chatbot
A full hugging face timeline would surely make them look terrible.
eli··on An agent used DNS to reach an external chatbot
Incompetence seems much much more likely than some vague conspiracy theory
eli··on An agent used DNS to reach an external chatbot
Are they not being explicitly trained for persistence?
eli··on U.S. appeals court upholds designation of Anthropic as supply chain risk
Whose fault is that?
eli··on U.S. appeals court upholds designation of Anthropic as supply chain risk
If you bought shares of those 7 companies in 2010 when the ACA passed, how much would you have today? More or less than if you bought the S&P 500?

If you're looking for policies to blame for insurance companies having a rough 2025-2026, look to the Republican-led efforts cap Medicare fees and alter eligibility requirements.

eli··on We just shipped support for the ugliest part of HTTP: Vary
OTOH a CMS that doesn’t send correct cache headers is already broken
eli··on Mercury 2.5 LLM hits 770 tokens per second
Which is wild because it does, in fact, do caching
eli··on Mercury 2.5 LLM hits 770 tokens per second
Yeah but at “call to discuss pricing” rates
eli··on Meta VR Glasses
Is Muse popular?
eli··on ChatGPT now knows what you do on other websites via ad collector
Oops sorry that should have read "sell"
eli··on ChatGPT now knows what you do on other websites via ad collector
Something like it is basically a requirement if you want to see digital ads. Advertisers want to know how many people who saw/clicked their ad went on to make a purchase.

Safari and Firefox should isolate the cookie by default.

eli··on Border agents can search cellphones without a warrant or reasonable suspicion
I think they should have to pass a new amendment to fix or clarify when the Constitution seems to say something contradictory. Court shouldn't be able to just decide the 4th Amendment means something weaker than what it plainly says.
eli··on A heap overflow and SSO misconfiguration to compromise OpenAI internal repos
Windows internal builds and video games are distributed to engineers and testers to run on their local workstations/consoles. Model weights are not.
eli··on Cloudflare Quick Tunnels
Don’t the free tunnels have explicit limits on bandwidth and streaming?
eli··on ZCode, the GLM coding agent, silently uploads your Git history
Kind of? It uses SSL
eli··on AWS says it can't restore some data from mideast facilities struck by Iran
I think it's what most people comparing provider SLAs would expect
eli··on Xiaomi Mimo 2.6 live post-training dashboard
Mimo has subsidized subscriptions too
eli··on So you want to use OpenRouter?
There’s a surprising amount of variety in between implementations of “OpenAI” endpoints.
eli··on DeepSeek launching v4.1 flash cheaper and more capable than v4 pro
You can test it now on the official deepseek api. Just set your model to deepseek-v4.1-flash-expires-on-0910

It’s good and very fast.

(Note that the deepseek API trains on your data)
