el_snark··on 245TB Micron 6600 ION Data Center SSD Now Shipping
They haven't released details but I was able to find a Solidigm D5-P5336 122.88TB drive for around 40,000 USD, as a guideline. So ... more than that.
el_snark··on 245TB Micron 6600 ION Data Center SSD Now Shipping
No problems here ...

Roundup of the chip industry
el_snark··on Microsoft is killing Skype
You may like to look at a self-hosted mattermost then.
el_snark··on I Went to SQL Injection Court
Enjoyed the read. Good luck with the future developments.

Now a nerdy question. As someone who investigates SQL injections, why are you running a server based on nginx 1.4.6? Do you know something I don't? :-)

el_snark··on Dear Mr. Vice President, Please Take Off Your Apple Watch
Thought this was pretty cool, but as the article progressed, it seemed to be selling various analogue watches, so that took the glee out of it a bit.
el_snark··on Boost your development environment with Ubuntu Multipass
Seems quite similar to LXC. Would be interested in seeing how the two compare.
el_snark··on General Galactic emerges from stealth to make methane from carbon dioxide
They have a website https://www.gengalactic.com/
el_snark··on Cow Magnets
This is incidentally why cows can't travel on planes. They always get stopped at the body scanner.
el_snark··on The simple but ingenious system Taiwan uses to crowdsource its laws
I can think of a few other countries which would benefit from this approach.
el_snark··on Dr Strangelove at 60
The final scene of Dr. Strangelove is a powerful metaphor for the current state of Twitter
el_snark··on He spent his life building a $1M stereo
Unfortunately he has 80 year old ears.
el_snark··on Localsend: Open-Source Airdrop Alternative
While we're all mentioning alternatives, I use croc quite a lot, which is good when sender and receiver are on different networks.
el_snark··on Xiaomi Switching to HyperOS
I know your mention of AirDrop was intended as an example, but you might be interested in localsend, which is also cross platform with desktops, IOS. localsend.org
el_snark··on Xiaomi Switching to HyperOS
Why do I feel uneasy about this ...?
el_snark··on Everything that uses configuration files should report where they're located
Its got my vote. Speaking as someone contemplating a Solr installation left without any documentation by a previous employee.
el_snark··on Google no longer automatically indexes websites?
I've got a script for parsing my web logs which removes all the lines which match persistent indexers/bots/scrapers and any obvious automatons. Logs generally shrink to 40-50% of their volume, so I'd at least double CF's estimate.
el_snark··on An open-source alternative to QuickBooks
I was slightly interested by this. Moved from MYOB to Gnucash about 20 years ago, and am sometimes thinking there might be a better alternative. However a look at their FAQ (page not found), their documentation, and their discord channel, which is full of people complaining that the installer doesn't work, I don't think this is it, at least not yet. And in fact, for it to be an option for me, there would have to be some sort of migration process, which doesn't seem to exist. Will put it on my "one to watch" list.
el_snark··on Nokia launches DIY repairable budget Android phone
Pretty sure the Custom ROM crew will leap on this one, so flashing it with one of those seems like it will be an option.

el_snark··on Show HN: Kuboble.com – Minimalistic sliding pieces puzzle game
No instructions. No idea what the objective is. Gave up after 60 seconds.
el_snark··on Use a laptop as a 2nd display on Linux using FreeRDP
There's a slightly different approach with a similar outcome: sharing the keyboard and mouse between two machines.

Software used to be called Synergy, but that went commercial, so there's a fork called barrier. https://github.com/debauchee/barrier

el_snark··on Ask HN: How do you manage your contacts?
I run a nextcloud instance, and sync two installations of Thunderbird and two android phones to it. All works well.
el_snark··on Ask HN: Email service for tiny company, 20 users, no marketing, no transactional
I should add that most of these options have installer scripts that take all the setup work out of the equation.
el_snark··on Ask HN: Email service for tiny company, 20 users, no marketing, no transactional
Would hosting your own be an option? You can get a VM in your cloud provider of choice for say 10 USD a month, then add a control panel such as hestia, ispconfig, mailcow (and many others), and then you have full control over your email. Add as many domains, email accounts as you like.
el_snark··on Ask HN: Are Linux HowTos dead? Why?
Plenty of them here, and regular additions being made.

Probably not what you're looking for, but I'll throw in Renaissance Man as another synonym.
