ekhornung··on Electronic medical records for mobile clinics in remote locations
Lori Most is the founder and CEO of BackpackEMR.

Based in Bloomington, Minnesota, BackpackEMR is a medical EMR software designed for mobile clinics in rural, low-income markets. BackpackEMR is the sustainable, portable, non-internet dependent solution for electronic data recording in internationally underserved areas.

Lori Most has been in technology, coding, and design before coding was cool, having worked for prominent companies such as Target and United Health Group. Her pivotal decision to found a startup and create an EMR software came after a volunteering trip to South America.

ekhornung··on Amazon Poised to Upheave Healthcare
I think people overestimate Amazon's ability to truly disrupt markets. Not saying they aren't going to be a big player in pharmacy, but size - no matter how good you are - inhibits total domination.

Also, this year at the BK conference, Warren didn't seem super optimistic that Haven was going to make any real impact in the near future.

ekhornung··on Why aren’t more companies remote-first?
how do you deal with some of the issues raised by other commenters?

- taxes - employee motivation - regulatory differences between jurisdictions - healthcare - contractor v employee

those seem to be the big 5 people have raised (outside of just not liking it)

ekhornung··on Why aren’t more companies remote-first?
that sounds like a nightmare with CO. I have heard about the nightmare of fully remote outside of the US, but I didn’t realize it was so bad within in
ekhornung··on Why aren’t more companies remote-first?
I can definitely see that in a non remote first company, but what about a company where remote is in their DNA? I spent some time reading through alley.co ‘s manual on this yesterday and it seems like if you put a lot of thought into it you could mitigate some of that.
