ejolto··on Switzerland considers jail sentences for those heating their homes unreasonably
> Switzerland strangely enough has somewhat of a liberal reputation

Are you sure you are not mixing them up with Sweden? For example the last Swiss canton to give women the right to vote did so in 1991. And same sex marriage in Switzerland was made legal in July this year.

ejolto··on What’s the strangest thing you ever found in a book?
Did you read the second book? Voldemort's diary plays a huge part in that one, so it's not surprising that the characters would find Voldemort's text book interesting or ominous (possible horcrux too).
ejolto··on Cocoa shown to reduce blood pressure and arterial stiffness in real-life study
Cacao beans are 54% fat, I don't think you'll get a powder if you just grind them, you'd get some sort of mush.

In my country there isn't even a thing called cocoa, it's all cacao with a k, kakao. Kakao beans, kakao powder etc. There is something called cocholate powder which is kakao powder mixed with milk powder and sugar, but I don't think that's what you are talking about.

I might buy some raw kakao/cacao beans to see what happens if I crush them.

ejolto··on Cocoa shown to reduce blood pressure and arterial stiffness in real-life study
The article you linked talks about cacao being the raw bean and cocoa being the processed powder. It also says you can get cacao from chocolate bars. I don't think there is a difference between cocoa powder and cacao powder.

> “Think of cacao, cocoa and chocolate like a pipeline,” says Fazio. “Cacao [fruit] grows from a tree and is raw and unprocessed. It’s the precursor to cocoa, and cocoa is the precursor to chocolate.”

> “The taste of cacao is earthy and bitter, and it has a grittier mouthfeel than chocolate,” says Fazio. “Cocoa powder tastes more like chocolate than cacao, but it doesn’t have a creamy mouthfeel either because most of the cocoa butter has been removed.”

> Some experts use “cacao” for the pods, beans and ground-up contents of the beans, reserving “cocoa” for the powder left after pressing the fat out of the ground beans (1Trusted Source).

Just milk and cacao powder is good too, though both milk and coconut cream contains some sugar.

Wow, where I'm from you can check it yourself, and we still use paper tags. There's minimal queues, usually none, at the automatic check in so you save lots of time.

ejolto··on Inflation rose 9.1% in June, even more than expected
It's not surprising that food prices rise when gasoline and natural gas prices rise. You need the gas for transporting and producing food, and you need natural gas for manufacturing fertilizer.

ejolto··on Bunny Roundabout
True! I eat them, but for some reason my grandmother refused to, so they gave them to the rabbits instead.
ejolto··on Bunny Roundabout
My father also grew up poor with rabbits. They would feed the rabbits things they would otherwise throw away, like carrot leaves and potato peels. Then they would eat the rabbits. Great way to turn inedible plants into edible protein.

FYI, fungi aren't plants, they are part of their own eukaryotic kingdom, and are more closely related to animals than plants.

We also usually only eat the fruit of the fungi, which we call mushrooms. The main part of the fungi lives under ground and is called the mycelium.

> everywhere is relatively cooler

It's warmer than the same date last year where I am.

Comparing with the maximum temperatures of last year.

- January 13th 2022, the day of the explosion was 6.4 C warmer

- January 14th 11.6 C warmer

- January 15th 6.7 C warmer

- January 16th 9.1 C warmer

- January 17th 1.4 C warmer

- January 18th 2.2 C warmer

The difference is even more extreme if I compare the minimum temperatures.

There has been more rain, but that is to be expected when the weather is warmer (in my region).
