ejboy··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
There are ways to make copy-paste ChatGPT usable with things like AI Badger. Also, ChatGPT web is unmetered, so you can do review/planning work and only delegate the actual implementation to Codex.
ejboy··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
I’d trust Marlboro as my healthcare provider before I’d install a Trojan from Zuck.
ejboy··on Muse Spark 1.3
Probably because Zuck is a big fan of ancient Rome.
ejboy··on Why is Arrays.fill 265 times slower on G1GC?
I am happy to see JDK versions actually becoming faster and lighter over time. Nice contrast with other platforms that seem to be moving in the opposite direction.
ejboy··on Why is Arrays.fill 265 times slower on G1GC?
Thank you - very useful summary.
ejboy··on Spring Boot on a 256 MB VPS: JDK 25 Compact Headers Put to the Test
Author here. I’m continuing to improve StatLite alongside these low-memory experiments. One direction I’m exploring is supporting other Micrometer-based frameworks, like Quarkus, which should be an interesting fit for this kind of 256 MB VPS setup.
ejboy··on Running a Java Spring Boot app on a 512 MB VPS with lightweight monitoring
Author here. I just published a follow-up experiment pushing the same Spring Boot setup down to 256 MiB VPS running Alpine Linux and JDK 25 + compact object headers.
ejboy··on Coding expertise is going to collapse from AI reliance
I wouldn't say collapse. But given that we started in November 2025 (with wide adoption of Claude Code), we probably have 3 to 15 months before we see widespread impact on quality.
ejboy··on Stop Making TUIs
One big benefit of TUIs is that they lower the bar for customer adoption. Before Claude Code, it was unthinkable to come up with a mass-market TUI because most users would not use it simply because it's a terminal. Now, it can even be an advantage. Even inexperienced users are no longer afraid of the terminal.
ejboy··on Go 1.27
Keeping priorities right!
ejboy··on Go 1.27
Used to code primarily in Java. Now my app stack is about 80% Go. I love that it enables lightweight application development. Glad to see the platform evolving with a focus on resource efficiency.
ejboy··on Ask HN: GitHub employees what's going on? Why?
My guess is that two factors are amplifying each other - Microsoft pushing for AI-assisted development internally and external agentic tools putting a lot of pressure on GitHub.
ejboy··on Ask HN: Another GitHub Outage?
I ran into this during Monday’s outage. My project-management tool caches GitHub issues and metadata locally, so I was able to keep planning without interruption. Sounds like GitHub may be having issues again today too, although I haven’t run into them myself yet.
ejboy··on Ask HN: Does anyone else feel like nothing matters anymore?
Totally. I've learned a lot this year, but the knowledge feels shallow. I'm now mostly outcome-oriented, rather than focused on the journey.
ejboy··on Lightweight Spring Boot Monitoring Without Prometheus and Grafana
Just added Docker support in the 0.2.2 release
ejboy··on Lightweight Spring Boot Monitoring Without Prometheus and Grafana
Just added Docker support in the 0.2.2 release! You can spin it up with:

docker run --rm -p 127.0.0.1:9090:9090 ghcr.io/pvrlabs/statlite:latest

Opening http://127.0.0.1:9090 will auto-monitor StatLite itself so you can test out the UI immediately.

ejboy··on Lightweight Spring Boot Monitoring Without Prometheus and Grafana
I ran across Beszel earlier - it’s a great project! But where Beszel focuses on server and container metrics, StatLite focuses strictly at the application layer-tracking app-level traffic, errors, latency, restarts, and runtime health. Both definitely have their place depending on what you need to observe.
ejboy··on Lightweight Spring Boot Monitoring Without Prometheus and Grafana
Thanks, I can see the value for quick testing. I don’t use Docker in my own setup, but I’d consider adding it. An issue with the workflow you’d expect would be helpful - the tracker is under GitHub -> PVRLabs/statlite -> Issues. (Full GitHub repo link in my HN profile)
ejboy··on Microsoft Office renamed to “Microsoft 365 Copilot app”
2026 Microsoft renamed to Cope-A-Lot
ejboy··on Replit used legal threats to kill my open-source project
How exactly it's existential if a single intern could copy their product? Imagine Microsoft/GitHub or someone with deep pockets going after them?
ejboy··on Replit used legal threats to kill my open-source project
Zoom does feel like a better copy of WebEx.
ejboy··on If this project is dead, just tell us
Author of Scriptella here. Thank you for mentioning it! The product was neglected for many years, but I never was ready to finally press the kill switch. Hoping that one day I will have more time to work on it...

I cannot promise active feature development, but at least keep it compatible with recent JDK versions. Let me know if you have any feature requests on https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/scriptella or https://github.com/scriptella/scriptella-etl
