eduardo_f··on Squatting in Spain: Understanding Spain's "okupas" problem
I invest in real estate in Spain and this is not true.
eduardo_f··on Almost half of Californians speak a non-English language at home

eduardo_f··on Wealthy people are renouncing American citizenship
This is incorrect.
eduardo_f··on Arabian Nights
We're working on a fork of Standard Ebooks focusing on Spanish.

We're actually looking for Spanish-speaking collaborators:

eduardo_f··on Ask HN: How do you transfer money internationally?
I'm very happy with Kantox for B2B transfers. It has a matching option that side-steps banks and brokers:

eduardo_f··on Leaving Google’s silo: Alternatives to Gmail, Talk, Calendar, and more
We have a free migration tool that you can use to move your email in and out of Google Apps:

eduardo_f··on Fred Wilson's Email Stats
We don't have a response rate graph yet. We do have a time before first response rate graph. Fred is comparing the total number of emails that he gets vs he sends from/to certain people, which is not the same as response rate.
eduardo_f··on Fred Wilson's Email Stats
My original submission title was "Fred Wilson's Email Stats (and the secret to getting a response from him)". Looks like a Hacker News moderator edited my title, even though Fred talks about the secret to getting a response from him at the end of his post.
eduardo_f··on The myth of the eight-hour sleep
No, we don't. In Spain, some people take a quick 30-minute nap after lunch, but I wouldn't call that sleeping in segmented blocks.
eduardo_f··on US visa woes? Pah. Try getting into Spain
I live in NY and the situation is much worse here than in the cities I've lived in in Spain (Madrid and Jerez). Spain's internet and cell coverage is generally better.
eduardo_f··on Ask HN: Startup promised me a job, then backed out after the internship
Sorry. Actually, you are right. I thought you meant exactly the opposite. I will delete my comment.

We just sponsored an H-1B and a J1, and all I can say is to be careful about advice on forums. It's good for background, but get a _good_ immigration lawyer.

eduardo_f··on Once Greece goes...
Spain's public debt is not high by European standards. It is still less than the public debt levels of Britain, France and Germany.
eduardo_f··on Why no company that values their data should ever "Go Google"
Try http://www.MigrationBox.com if you want to save the messy.
eduardo_f··on Ask HN: Chicago-Area Startups
I started http://www.MigrationBox.com in Chicago, now about to graduate TechStars in NYC.
eduardo_f··on Ditch Starbucks and work at the library
That's how we got started. Our university let us book private rooms for 2 hours in a row, so we reserved 6 hours every day (we're 3). We did that for 3 months. The library manager thought we were doing some class project and helped us get a good room every day :)
eduardo_f··on Poll: What CRM do you use at your startup?
insight.ly
eduardo_f··on What happens when an entire country legalizes drug use?
It's the same in Spain. You get a fine (around $500), but you don't go to prison.
eduardo_f··on Tell HN: Chicago Holiday Meetup (Help Us Schedule)
I'm in. Any day before January 3rd works for me.

PS: tptacek, I'm one of those who emailed ;)

eduardo_f··on Linode giving $100 credit to first 1,000 new customers to sign up this Friday
I love Linode, but I don't get anywhere close the type of bandwidth I get with 100tb.com. Can you recommend other high-bandwidth hosts?
eduardo_f··on Ask HN: Where did you go to college?
Technical University of Madrid. I love the city but the university is generally out of sync with reality and passing is very hard, let alone getting good grades. Illinois Institute of Technology. I love Chicago too, but it's cold!
eduardo_f··on Immigration for Startups
Amen. That's exactly what I'm doing.
eduardo_f··on How To Mass Export All Of Your Facebook Friends’ Private Email Addresses
Can't be done. At all. I've spent many hours trying.

eduardo_f··on Ask HN: How much a 'Promoted Tweet' costs on Twitter?
GrubHub (venture-funded Chicago startup for food delivery) advertises heavily in the subway. One of the founders Mike told me that it works very well for them. A few years ago the Chicago rapid transit system was sloppy in replacing the ads, so they got a lot of days of free advertising.
eduardo_f··on How Immigrants Create More Jobs
I'm also an immigrant founder (actually not really an immigrant because I want to go back to Spain eventually). I have not created any jobs yet but I can assure you I've invested WAY more money in this country than I took out of it.

My girlfriend also works here and it's going to take her years to get back the tens of thousands of hard-earned euros she invested in her Master's. I have many friends in that plane.

eduardo_f··on Offer HN: Tax Help for Startup Entrepreneurs.
Thanks! I have graduated already (almost a year ago) and so far so good working for my own company. We'll see when tax time comes.
eduardo_f··on Offer HN: I will build you a marketing campaign to get more traffic
Sent you an email as well! Thanks!
eduardo_f··on Offer HN: Tax Help for Startup Entrepreneurs.
Hi Camz, I'm a non-resident alien under a student visa and own a C-Corp in Illinois. I sell software as a service and would like to know if there is anything special tax-wise I should take care of being a non-resident alien. Also, any general strategies on how to minimize my tax exposure as a non-resident alien?
