How to be a kid. You've have plenty of time to study CS stuff. Enjoy your youth and do dumb shit.

I guess I just needed somebody else to confirm it for me. I did the math after posting this. I don't like the ego hit of a salary reduction, but it just makes sense it seems...

You probably know more about the subject than the people you are speaking to. So, when appropriate, err on the side of giving more background info than less.

I made the leap from DevOps to full time dev, but it took a lot of work on my own, as well as a lot of interviews to find someone to take a chance on me

Another thing to consider is once you have devops on your resume', you will be hounded by recruiters still trying to hire you to do it...

An ORM is like any other tool, you can either use it properly or misuse it. I've seen terrible hand written SQL code, and I've seen terrible LINQ queries. But with EF for example, once you learn LINQ and it's power, it becomes a very invaluable tool.

Also, the argument of it getting in the way is moot too, as you can still call a stored proc via an ORM as well.

This is what I'm hoping to do. I want to get a container home outbuilding placed in my backyard, with some good big windows and a view of the woods behind my house. Probably gonna cost 40-50k though furnished and installed...

Yes. /thread.

I averaged a 60hr workweek last month. Oftentimes I couldn't give a crap about working on side projects outside of work because I have both a life, and am approaching burn out. Making side projects a hard requirement is going to cut off your nose to spite your face.
