easymovet··on Dow plunges more than 950 points after China devalues its currency
Genius, if they are using it to buy gold or bitcoin.

They should really hold the full amount in escrow, with something like Bitcoin so they don’t have to worry about transaction denials.

easymovet··on Show HN: CurlHub, API Traffic Inspector
Really clean, I can see this being super helpful for teams that work on microservices and need to debug or share examples.
easymovet··on Apple Airplay on Raspberry Pi in 7 Easy Steps
These work too for $30 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HFYZDNC/ but it might be a security threat to have them on your LAN, I have no idea what software they run.
easymovet··on Crypto Market Crash Leaving Bankrupt Startups in Its Wake
That sounds very reasonable, is there an equivalent chain of authority possible on iOS?
easymovet··on Crypto Market Crash Leaving Bankrupt Startups in Its Wake
Which phone (secure computing platform) do you trust to securely store your wallet key? All it takes to lose is an update to the wallet app that sends the key to a server.

easymovet··on Vue.js: the good, the meh, and the ugly
Has anyone actually run into limitations of knockoutJS that Vue or React solve? Knockout has typescript support, stable codebase, excellent tutorials, large plugin base, and components that can be loaded with requireJS. We've had great luck with it in the wild too.
easymovet··on How my role as CTO has changed as we've grown from 1 to 100 engineers
The justification I hear for ignoring the data against open offices is: "Every other unicorn has an office like this and they get work done so why can't we"?
easymovet··on Sources: Google is buying Lytro for about $40M
The high price was primary due to them trying to offset the high RD cost vs the actual hardware cost. Google might be able to sell it cheaper if they can get ROI with other applications.

Update: hardware cost about $400 interesting analysis of their strategy here http://hc25.web.rice.edu/files/projects/LytroMarketingPlan.p...

easymovet··on What Is Bitcoin Really Worth? Don’t Even Ask
Cryptocurrency is the first time all three of: cash, stocks, and gold have been the same thing. So take the sum of NYSE etc, Au, M0,all salaries needed to run those infrastructures and banks devide by the number of ethereum tokens, btc, and eth to get a price.

The reason I say ethereum instead of all alt coins is because once people figure out that the chain needs to be decentralized to be secure they will stop making their own coins and will do tokenized assets instead. full disclosure: I'm long on Doge ;)

easymovet··on Salary transparency at Stack Overflow
Unless they don't actually pay much which might be the case: https://www.glassdoor.com/Salary/Stack-Exchange-Salaries-E73...
easymovet··on Salary transparency at Stack Overflow
They wouldn't dare list actual salaries because then they would have to pay everyone higher, just see what happened with lawyers: http://www.wsj.com/articles/law-firm-cravath-raising-startin...
easymovet··on Salary transparency at Stack Overflow
This is marketing, not transparency. Show me the books and I'll believe you.
easymovet··on Knockout is the only front end lib with a .net core template doing lazy loading
That's a big deal for single page apps (SPA) that get bigger than a couple pages and result in large initial downloads of the client side code. Having personally used these templates for getting a Typescript app with KO components running I also wanted to get some recognition for the folks that put them together. They saved me a lot of time.
easymovet··on How Quantum Randomness Saves Relativity
Bummer, so much so sub space communication. It does sound like it would be useful for extremely safe encryption where the two parties would have an ever changing shared key.

easymovet··on Why do ten Chicken McNuggets cost the same as twenty?
Sorry, I know this isn't reddit, but speaking of the economics of McNuggets this classic monologue from The Wire is too good not to revisit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cvq3Pf3j61c
easymovet··on The Vagus Nerve: A Back Door for Brain Hacking
I tried it out with a signal generator (wav file) and an audio amplifier cranked way up, it felt like AC and made some muscles twitch but nothing compared to mechanical vagal maneuvers.
easymovet··on S.576 – Encouraging Employee Ownership Act
The ones under $5m were probably disclosed becasue of their position more than their comp level: "The federal securities laws require clear, concise and understandable disclosure about compensation paid to CEOs, CFOs and certain other high-ranking executive officers of public companies." - http://edgar.sec.gov/answers/execomp.htm
easymovet··on S.576 – Encouraging Employee Ownership Act
Am I correctly interpreting this to means that I will only have to disclose the details of my compensation if it involves the sale of more than $10million in stock? This seems odd since, in a publicly traded company, it is already normal for executives to disclose compensation even well below the existing threshold of $5million.
easymovet··on Riot – A React-like, 2.5K user interface library
Where does Mithril fit in this stack: RequireJs, Knockout (with components), SammyJS (for routing/browser history and events)?

--After doing some reading it looks like it replaces some of knockout and sammy but I'd lose data binding and dependency tracking of knockout.

easymovet··on Microsoft Looks to Cut Up to 18,000 Jobs
It means less severance packages will have to be paid out because a lot of people won't want to be in limbo and will resign on their own first.
easymovet··on Ask HN: Good way to recognize and reward team members?
Good thing you asked here first, stickers would be an insult to the hard work they have put in. Public recognition and a week off is whats called for. Read PeopleWare if you haven't yet.
