What a load of tripe.
Try stuffing all the functionality of a large enterprise desktop app like SAP or Siebel into Electron and let me know how well that goes.
LOL. I see a "Sorry for your loss" in your future.
I don't think I'd be ok with inviting over guests and shoving bottles of soylent in front of them as a "meal".
I'm no longer using CF for my own projects, but you've just cemented my decision that none of my clients will either.
How is it a form of slavery if you're earning a decent wage and can leave any time you want?
Pull your head out of your arse and grow up.
Government can play a role in the improvement in the everyday life of it's citizens. As an example, I pay 25 euros/month for 200mbps fibre internet thanks to my government's antitrust laws.
How are you doing on this front, Americans?
Don't know how it compares to Oracle as I've never used it.
IIRC fibers were added to the NT kernel specifically for SQLS.
Myself and my close friends curse, insult and tease each other in a manner that we find entertaining; however if I had this same type of interaction with someone I've only known for a couple of months it would be insulting and I'd avoid that person.
And by your standards even the OP is "just an anecdote". We have no proof whatsoever that she was in fact mistreated.
Every real Jedi needs to build their own light saber, and come on, it's just 100KLOC or so.
I'd describe it as being similar to caffeine, it makes you more alert. Of course there are downsides that everyone knows about.
Agreed, but one thing that has been a constant throughout history is that empires eventually become complacent and buckle under their own weight, and have to face smaller contenders that don't have the inertia to maintain the status-quo.
It's telling that there really isn't any empire that has endured "forever", probably because this is simply not possible.
Portugal was the first global empire and ostensibly lasted for 600 years, but its decline started much sooner than it's total lifespan (around the 200 year mark). The country is now a shadow of what it once was, and the US will also be one day.
If they do try to launch a nuclear attack (or even a conventional one), they will forfeit the cushy setup they've created for themselves.
Not to mention that it can devolve into something that's more of a democracy in name only.
Take the upcoming US elections where the choices are, on one hand, a blowhard who wants to build a massive wall to keep out Mexican immigrants, and on the other a corrupt-to-the-core corporate puppet.
This isn't much of a real democracy when parties become so big that more competent people have no chance of running for office without the support of said parties.
I like generics and the things that come with it, like LINQ and manipulating abstract collections in a type-safe manner, thank you very much :)

Meanwhile in Golandia, this is still an issue:https://github.com/golang/go/issues/16721#issuecomment-24015...
...and I haven't felt this kind of pinch when using C#, ever. But what do I know? I'm just a .NET wage-slave pleb who's too mentally handicapped to see Go's glory.
