A beach bum based primarily out of Waikiki, the earthbound kid has cleverly deceived friends and acquaintances into believing her self-stylings as a would-be philosopher and raconteur at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
I’m surprised URL encoding works so well. I’ve been base64 encoding and using JS to decode, but if URL encoding is that reliably, it’s probably not worth it.
In one case, it couldn’t tell that a slice couldn’t go out of bounds because I was iterating through it backwards instead of forwards. In another case, I had a helper method on a type to deal with initializing a named map type, but it couldn’t see that and thought the map was going to explode from being nil. Those are two false positives I remember off the top of my head. I can look it up again later.
The web API based licensing scheme is dumb and bad. It’s including a buggy whip holder on a model T thinking. The license should be that they sell a license for use of the weights. They can also sell a SaaS that does a web API to use the weights. But the weights are the thing other businesses actually want and it’s controlling and obviously a monopoly play to not sell the weights. Other businesses have an obvious incentive to only work with companies that sell weights so as to prevent their being mere serf’s on someone else’s SaaS farm.
You can know someone is a bad person from casual interaction, but not vice versa. There's basically no way to know if anyone intelligent is a good person without extremely intense surveillance. I guess with an unintelligent person, you can assume that they're not smart enough to hide if they're doing something really bad, but even then, maybe they're just playing dumb.
Yes, I think I got my first iPhone around 2010, and at the time I was still on limited text message plan. I don't think I got unlimited texts until 2014 or something.
I've seen locks used at the CMSes of large news organizations. It's fine, but they all need a mechanism to kick out an editor who has an idle tab left open. For my own small scale CMS, I just wrapped Google Docs and let them handle all the syncing headaches.
You probably need a headless CMS of some kind so the client can manage it. I've used decap/Netlify CMS, and it's fine, but it's clearly not anyone's priority anymore.
It's extremely annoying because his posts get reposted to social media a lot and you suddenly have to go on a treasure hunt to figure out if he's revisiting old topics, or you read it five years ago.
Ideally, the LLM would be able to tell the is of identity from the is of predication. I found the article a little too defensive. It felt like "of course it doesn't work, there's not enough data!" and okay, sure, but that is a flaw, no?
Yes! I’ve been saying this for years. The whole framing is a victim blaming dodge, when the two bad actors are the crooks and whoever made the loan with insufficient ID.
Yeah, ideally you’d have some kind of static typing to restrict the code to only use Number, and then a comment that says what the function does in case of NaN.
