eafkuor··on I just don’t want to be busy anymore
> Honestly, you're doing 4 jobs, and I assume only being paid for one. Fuck that noise.

I just wanted to highlight this. Pure gold.

eafkuor··on Spotify Box
Yes Spotify is great at discovery. I've discovered plenty of music thanks to it during the years – lately, for example, tens of Japanese jazz recordings.
eafkuor··on Stop Reading News (2013)
https://www.ilpost.it

In my humble opinion, the best Italian news website.

eafkuor··on Why can’t I go faster than the speed of light?
If this is true (I'm too stupid to do the math), then consider my mind blown!

eafkuor··on The Cookbook and Home Economics Collection
I'm also Italian (from Italy, not "my great grandpa was half Italian"), if some robot can make me parmigiana di melanzane as good as I can make it, I'll never cook it again.
eafkuor··on How to Work Hard
Yeah this is absolute shit, and it appeals to a very specific kind of "driven" people. Nothing against them but they need to realise that most others just want to enjoy their short time on this planet. I'm happy with my really mellow stable job that leaves me plenty of free time to do the things I actually want. Life is too short.
eafkuor··on Everyone and no one belongs to New York
I can think of NY, London, and maybe Sydney. Not sure if I'm missing any
eafkuor··on How Parking Destroys Cities
Last time I checked taxis are pretty expensive. Not everyone wants or can spend 10 or 20 euros every time they need to go somewhere.
eafkuor··on Hertz, the original meme stock, is turning out to be worthless
Doesn't this only apply to short selling? How does that apply if you are just buying stock to hold long term?
eafkuor··on A deep-dive into the future of subscription gaming
The good news is that you have about 3 decades worth of great games (1990 to 2020 roughly) to enjoy for the rest of your life
eafkuor··on TransferWise changes name to Wise
I guess I should have said "how much money do you _programmers_ make in the US", I suppose
eafkuor··on TransferWise changes name to Wise
> I religiously send a the same (about 5k USD) to my home country every month

Good lord, how much money do you people make in the US?

eafkuor··on De Cecco reveals why there is a bucatini shortage in America
I mentioned Rummo in my other reply: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=26074834

Rummo is great, their penne are almost impossible to overcook.

Agnesi is also a good brand.

I'm sure you can find both in Germany - I'm able to easily find both in Poland.

eafkuor··on De Cecco reveals why there is a bucatini shortage in America
Barilla is like Nutella. It's just the most popular, not the best
eafkuor··on De Cecco reveals why there is a bucatini shortage in America
Exactly! Rummo is where we start talking.
eafkuor··on The World’s Aging Dams
Tens of thousands? I had no ideas that many dams existed
eafkuor··on Efficiency is dangerous and slowing down makes life better
> We worship efficiency. Use less to get more. Same-day delivery. Multitask; text on one device while emailing on a second, and perhaps conversing on a third. Efficiency is seen as good. Inefficiency as wasteful.

Is this a US thing? I've lived in three different European countries and nobody thinks this way. Efficiency and productivity are things I mostly just read about on HN.

eafkuor··on How and why I attempt to use Links as main browser
This is impressive but damn it makes me feel stupid. I never felt the need for any of these features, and I'm completely happy with almost vanilla firefox with tree style tabs. I feel like I'm missing something.
eafkuor··on Writing a software book and making over $100k
Oh man, I completely agree with you. People here or on reddit who are constantly talking about US salaries and cost of life forget that there's other parts of the world where people are programmers.

I live in Poland and a one-off 100k USD as a side income in a year would absolutely change my life. I am _not_ exaggerating.

eafkuor··on Writing a software book and making over $100k
> working for any SP500 company will easily get you the same amount of money in less than a year

If you live in the US. Which I'm (maybe wrongly) going to assume the author doesn't. 100k dollars is a life changing amount of money in a lot of countries.

eafkuor··on Ask HN: Any job boards and age-friendly companies for older developers?
You could try Atlassian, even though in the EU they only have an office in Amsterdam
eafkuor··on Ask HN: Successful one-person online businesses?
There are markets where it pays less - see Warsaw.
eafkuor··on How to pack a Norwegian sandwich, the world’s most boring lunch
Nice stereotype but lunches in Italy are usually 30 minutes, just like in many other European countries. It's the 3 minute long, bland lunch in front of your laptop that's depressing to me. But as other people said to each their own.
eafkuor··on How to pack a Norwegian sandwich, the world’s most boring lunch
But taking a break with decent food is exactly one of the things I want to do
eafkuor··on How to pack a Norwegian sandwich, the world’s most boring lunch
Me too. It's like people are forgetting to enjoy their lives.
eafkuor··on The curious economics of being ripped off on holiday
The only honest car rental companies I've ever used were a family owned one in Romania and Sixt, I think, in Sydney. All the rest, in Europe, were essentially scams. Not surprised.
