dzogchen··on Randar: A Minecraft exploit that uses LLL lattice reduction to crack server RNG
I loved playing on 2b2t, until it got too popular all of the sudden when a YouTuber did a video on it.

2b2t (an anarchy servers in genral) are Minecraft the way it is meant to be played.

dzogchen··on Overture Maps Foundation Releases Beta of Its First Open Map Dataset
The article starts with “San Fransisco”. It is clear which summer is meant.
dzogchen··on Writing Gnome Apps with Swift
Qt of course, hands down.
dzogchen··on C++ left arrow operator (2016)
Operator overloading is one of those things that needs to be done with good taste.
dzogchen··on Redis adopts dual source-available licensing
Probably? It is a non-free license plain and simple.
dzogchen··on Microsoft Joins the MapLibre Sponsorship Program
It is being worked on! https://github.com/maplibre/maplibre/discussions/161
dzogchen··on Men hand over Bitcoins worth two billion euros to German federal police
Personally I'd rather live in Germany or the EU after a short prison sentence than live in some shady third world country, always looking over my shoulder and trying to protect my wealth.
dzogchen··on Sane C++ Libraries
'Sane' C++ is apparently still using macros all over the place. :) Not really to be taken seriously.
dzogchen··on Driverless cars swerve traffic tickets in California even if they break the law
> one of its driverless cars struck and dragged a pedestrian along the street in an accident in October last year

Please don't call it an 'accident'...

> “Accident” tends to imply that no one is at fault — and when it’s used in the context of a traffic crash, it also can give the impression that what occurred is not that serious.

dzogchen··on Modern C++ Programming Course
This is just an idea at this point. Ask again in 30 years.

dzogchen··on Ask HN: Why is OpenAI firing Sam Altman such a big deal?
Because Sam Altman was one of the religious leaders of the Hacker News techbro cult.
dzogchen··on It's easy to screw up on breaking news but you have to admit when you do
Putting quotes from unreliable sources in headlines is dangerous journalism in my opinion.
dzogchen··on Asahi dev found off-by-one bug in M2 MacBook Air bass enhancer
Apple is nearing 3 billion dollar valuation. This is an inexcusable bug since the most banale Q&A testing would have caught.
dzogchen··on Valve releases Counter-Strike 2
I had the same experience, until a friend told me you really need a good monitor (144 Hz+) and a good mouse, otherwise you are hopeless in this game.
dzogchen··on The Philips Hue ecosystem is collapsing
I really can't feel sorry for people that think it's a good idea to depend on proprietary software for their light bulbs.
dzogchen··on Unlimited Kagi searches for $10 per month
You 'installed' OpenStreetMaps?!
dzogchen··on MongoDB’s new query engine
Why use a non-FOSS database at all?
dzogchen··on Deno vs. Bun vs. Node.js: A feature comparison
I would argue that random segfaults are not particularly good DX.
dzogchen··on OpenTF repository is now public

dzogchen··on Show HN: Open-source obsidian.md sync server
And CouchDB is still FOSS!

I have been obsessed by it the past months. Coming from MongoDB the querying is a bit more limited, but I'd use it over MongoDB in a heartbeat. Very simple to host and even to set up multiple instances. Also CouchDB was embracing serverless before it was cool with their HTTP API.

dzogchen··on Glove80 Ergonomic Keyboard
Does anyone know a EU reseller?

I would like to buy one, but I would like to have the option to send it back if I don't like it.

dzogchen··on The boiling frog of digital freedom
> 2025: Google removes the ability to install Android apps from outside the Play store, citing security concerns.

Ehm... This will be illegal in the EU very soon. A bit alarmist. Also not very fair to only include anti-piracy and anti-freedom legislation while ignoring milestones such as GDPR.

dzogchen··on Organic Maps
Organic Maps is the best for biking and walking, Google Maps has left me hanging so many times there.
dzogchen··on HashiCorp switching to BSL shows a need for open charter companies

dzogchen··on libjpeg-turbo 3.0 has been released, and why there may never be a 3.1
Although MapLibre Native is primarily a vector-tile based maps renderer, we also support raster images and we depend on libjpeg-turbo for it.
dzogchen··on libjpeg-turbo 3.0 has been released, and why there may never be a 3.1
In this case many FOSS projects that depend on it will just not update because of license incompatibility.
dzogchen··on Can Dell’s 6K monitor beat their 8K monitor?
I bought this 6K monitor, but I did not like

1) The scaling on macOS. Everything was way too big. There were not enough options for fractional scaling.

2) The matte finish. I came from another matte Dell monitor, but the whole screen looked slightly fuzzy, like a permanent oil stain all over the monitor.

3) The contrast sucks. They call it 'IPS Black' but I was not impressed. The colors look different depending on the angle. This is probably an issue with the size of the monitor as well, as when you look at the left size, the angle to the right size is pretty big.

Lastly I did not like the size either, but I will have that with every 31.5 inch monitor.

dzogchen··on How to Do Great Work
It is a very narcisistic perspective. Which makes sense if you consider the author.
