data-driven cause I want Beyondpad to be about casual-data. And notes are only one form of casual data! Other forms could be calendar entries, task tracking. Or for example when Ill add ability for tags to work as bi-directional data adapters, you could create tag "hacker news", and under that tag, this feed would show up! If this info would be something you considered for yourself as data you are interested in.

It came down from two sides. I kinda burned out while working on Android app and I was expecting much more users and engagement. And I didn't want to create another note taking app - idea for BP is to be one unified place for your data. And notes is only one form of casual-data. Sentiment was like this - Imagine note taking app, calendar app, task tracking app, etc. as destinations on a map. And to get to each of those destinations you need to have special vehicle for each one! So idea was to try to state than notes, calendar entries, tasks, fitness info etc. ar casual-data. And you can have one tool that gives you mechanics to aggregate and manipulate those data in one unified place. Where then you can slice, combine and get insights on your data as a whole. And its is hard to pitch something so generic!

just to name few things - ability to create custom forms or templates, different note lookup mechanics via tags and tag tree traversal, ability to assign "logic" to tags and forms. Ide is to be more data centric than keep is!

Yes, web app uses REST like API, and Android syncs using tokens. So I have building blocks for making public API. And yes it is planed hopefully after Android release.

Feature pipline:

1. Android app - hopefully till end of September

2. Calendars and maps - cause those make sense more in combination with mobile

3. Insights and data adapters - tags, that will act as data source and target (for example tag could be some Google Calendar, by selecting this tag you will be able to see data from that calendar (in staged grid view, list or calendar), and by tagging notes with this tag notes will be added to that calendar)

4. Workflows (as alternative to collaboration and sharing) and more

Main building blocks for Beyondpad are React.js, Node.js and MongoDB and it is hosted on modulus.io

This feature is partialy developed, I plan to enable it in a while when i'll fugur out all sync quirks and edge cases

Plan is simple - to keep going, keep improving, making it better. Vision and pipeline is full of awesome features. And maybe some day Ill manage to monetize :)

Yes I understand, I need to think about that and ordering.. cause then it seems to me that scrolling would have to happen horizontaly.. but thats and interesting idea! Meanwhile there are lists :)

Yes you can add multiple same type items to a note, no problem!

Nice read! About ordering - notes are shown in order they were added or reorganized. As for masonry layout - you are absolutely correct in cases it can be hard to read, that's why Beyondpad has two options in settings, max number of columns and should those columns be arranged in rows or tiles, I guess Row layout is what you would preferred (this layout option can be changed also from context bar (three dots near search bar)) About email solution - that would be indeed interesting to see implemented in some email client. Just to give some reference context in Beyondpad - one point in vision is to allow attaching emails to tags, thus when adding tag to a note or stuff that note would be shared with those contacts.

Mobile is with high priority. Linking notes to each other - basically if you promote note to tag (from options in edit mode), then it can be linked, to other note. but simply linking notes, not at the moment. As for mind-map feature - similar thing you described is also in a future vision - basically you should be able to vie your notes in graph with relation to other tags (and thus maybe even create meta links/tags to link those together).. but that's for the future of Beyondpad!

When I was brainstorming this idea about self hosting or federation kinda came to mind but i was not sure about interest in that. Actually at the moment As its Node and MongoDB there would be not problem to self host, but I need to think about that :)

Thanks I guess ill do that with video, split it in kinda introductions to main parts of the app

At the moment if you are into it you can get all your data, including relations in json format just by inspecting traffic source and getting that json. But I plan to add more civilized way of getting your data out!
