Traditional bigos was made with lemons, not sauerkraut. Lemons, meat and a lot of oriental spices to cover the scent of rancid meat (there were no refrigerators at the time) and show off the prestige of szlachta. Then peasants copied the meal using whatever was available to mimick the taste, and that's how we have bigos in modern/contemporary cuisine.
Unfortunately, currently produced mdisks are not the same as older ones. Requirements for media has been relaxed a while ago, most disks are not meant to last 1000 years anymore. Still, I don't know any viable alternative, besides maybe LTOs if you're lucky to know somebody with reasonable drive (not sure about US, in EU drives are quite expensive, and I mean used drives of course).
I just figured out from subcomments it's an excerpt from article, so my comment just doesn't fit here (thought author of the comment I replied to just braged they can vibe code something ad hoc and don't need to read about domain). Apologies for the mistake (still keeping my opinion about vibe coding).
I love vibe coding. Even the variables don't match (x, y, x vs axis[3]) and the coder is left with no knowledge what's they doing. You'll probably either prompt for fixing it or fix it yourself, but will still not get substantial amount of the domain knowledge -- and let's be honest, this is example just the simplest term there, that's why the code is so easy to correct even without thinking...
There's such thing, at least in prototype stage. Like cryptDB, which, afaik is homomorphic with a nice property of preserving the order of encrypted keys. It leaks some information, but you can apply predicates different than equality, like `where a between 100 and 200`. In that case, the query passed to server will look like `where a between encrypted(100) and encrypted(200)` and server will be able to apply it, without knowing real values of the range limits or data stored in `a` column. With encryption function which don't preserve order, the data would need to be filtered client-side, so whole projection would be dumped to client and it would be the client who first decrypts the data, and then filters-out unnecessary rows.
I've spent over a minute after finding on HN there's something more than just discord invitation trying to find where any clue is. Like, you know, playing notpron. Tried clicking on different icons, then the footer, literally nothing. Finally, I scrolled. Not sure if it's my resolution+scaling or what, but with nowadays' bare visible scrollbars, there was a map with some tiles and coins on the right, and just some gray empty space after. As I believe 4k 150% is quite standard, there's no surprise some people may get confused.
Wow, it's already 20 years. Was setting up distcc in my first job, with ccache for armcc. Good times, great experience. This was a life-safer in terms of compilation speed (just needed wait 20 mins for consolidation and like the same or more for loading symbols to the debugger, which was bearable comparing to spending another 2 or 3 hours taken by compilation). Having the opportunity, would like to thank you!
Yeah... And some still remember recording the sound of popped baloons in different environments (or checked the response of analog filters to a single spike) to use it with first version of SIR VST. Awesome experience, at least as for that forgotten times.
I wouldn't use word "legally" here, but rather "without worrying about consequences for its employees". First off, it's still illegal in the foreign countries, secondly US claims for its jurisdiction worldwide is not respected by that world itself and such actions may cause some diplomatic consequences which cannot be explained by US' local regulations.
