For sure it is a murky world. It becomes less murky by not doing business with genocidal regimes, who are actively committing crimes against humanity now. I think we both agree that a less murky world is better?
Altruistic org, nah, these people just wanted less blood on their paychecks, maybe. Or just that the organisation they work is not complicit in these heinous crimes.
I could see a lot of people talking why they would not watch this. Not just in hn. But I think, that at this point this is not conceived as a spectator sport, but rather an experiment in autonomous driving. Even F1 had to do a lot of outreach and PR, just to stay connected to the viewers. I think this may or may not get popular, but it would certainly attract some racing and autonomous driving companies and enthusiasts.
True, It is not unjust. It is justified. Unlike the occupation and genocide assisted by Google, that they were protesting. I mean if you could getaway with working and aiding a genocidal apartheid regime, you could getaway with a lot of things.
Wow, those are a lot of fancy words to justify being silent enablers of the atrocities committed against Palestinian people. A few sentences are just obscene and plain wrong, like Israel is a scapegoat for its imperial predecessors. Israel is the literal device of its imperial predecessors, and continue to do so. It is denying the educated person's right to call an end to this violence, as a mere leftist shift in academia. While most of the protests were very calm and accommodating, people are quick to paint all with the same brush of antisemitism. And its always the people who take a moral stand, need to apologise, for their rhetoric. Those who spew venom against the Palestinian people are always given a free pass.
I wonder what do the author read though. I think he could do with a bit of thorough reading of To Kill A Mockingbird.
I am not even commenting about these peace deals, for now. But Oslo accords, were they violated by Palestinians and their allies? Do you deny the current and long time PM supporting Hamas against PA? Or the killers of Rabin were also Palestinians and their allies?
Or maybe not murder the consular corps of the other country in a different country? Against all international covenants of treating consulates as part of the nation?
Besides, this country has nukes on its own, and the largest military on its side.
It is strange to portray that there is no other way other than the so called pre emptive strikes. Guess that's what accepted as the default doctrine, if its entire existence is that of an overgrown colonial military outpost.
I hope, if it comes to it, I choose to be someone, to whom this grave and appalling atrocities are committed against, than to be the ones who does these heinous crimes with impunity, and certainly not the ones who lauds these actions and cheer for it.
A very decisive factor will be the type of powertrain. Tesla is pure EV. If we were to get a breakdown with the powertrain type, we can have some more useful inferences.for example, should wecknow Tesla maintenance vs the cost for EVs of Volkswagen, then reliability of the company could really be put into perspective. Also a breakdown for comparable cars in EV, ICE and hybrid would be really helpful. I think that would skew things towards EVs. Yet, in the long term, if there was a battery replacement, then the cost will be more for EVs.
I have a few reservations about the method of data collection, the fact that this is mentioned as out of pocket at the beginning. Also driving style and driving environments might also factor in this. But on the face value, I think the 5 and 10 year costs are much Important and shows the reliability of the car. On another note if we had, 15 and 20 year breakdown, adjusted for inflation, we can get a much better idea about that. But yes, some people change car in short time, and that might not be relevant to them.
With respect, this is a myopic view. Gaza has been blockaded for a long time now. Sea, Air and Land. Not years, but more than a decade. Israel has restricted the calorie per citizen even before these recent events. Prevented them from collecting rainwater. Blowed up buildings hosting International media without scrutiny. It did not start with the recent events. And please do not compare with Germany, Britain or Japan, they had Large standing militaries, navies, and airforce. You simply can't say this is such a war.
That's not true. You can see UN sites get flagged to death. Here I was just saying that HN discussion are not strictly bound to be technological. Parent was saying they would flag basically everything related to this.
I think you have a point. We should look at ICJ rulings, WCK staff and other Journalists' killing, the destruction of hospitals, schools, even blowing up museums, in Gaza. Also the detention of thousands of people, including minors. And maybe, just maybe, sanction and cut off the apartheid regime. Google can then pull out much easily.
I think they should publish the Google services used by IDF, that way GCloud customers can also rely on them, because Google is not going to shutdown those services. It won't be appearing in killedbygoogle, I guess.
This is true, It was absolutely ridiculous to see even UN articles getting flagged to death. All the while absolute propaganda were still actively get promoted. An argument can be made that HN has to not keep discussions going to flamewar. I would acknowledge that I have learned much kore about the issues through HN. And it is much more clear to me that the responsibility almost completely lies on the west, both colonial and neo colonial entities there.
What is even more surprising is that US under Reagan, of all people, had cut off aid and stabilised Israel aggression much more than the current government. Yet, we have bipartisan support for the apartheid genocide machine when they commit even more cruel crimes against humanity.
A genocide need not be a continent wide phenomenon. Systematically killing people with specific tags based on ethnicity, religion or regional markers are under the purview of it. And for a detailed explanation you can refer to the ICJ ruling on the current one.
>In a letter announcing her resignation to her colleagues, Koren wrote that Google "systematically silences Palestinian, Jewish, Arab and Muslim voices concerned about Google's complicity in violations of Palestinian human rights—to the point of formally retaliating against workers and creating an environment of fear,"
Well this firing is without the sit-in, I think. Those who were asking why do employees chose to do a sit-in might want to read this for context.
Well the company is not a monolithic entity, it is after all a group of people. Is it unreasonable to expect them to change a particular policy, in this case supporting genocide , could be changed from within? After all it was decided to pursue by some execs, and it is jot that hard to withdrawfrom it. It is not the core business of Google. We are not talking about Googlers protesting about the Google Ads.
Well, fine. If you are a member of my family, and you think that the family is in cahoots with those commit crimes against humanity, you might as well do that. If you had a bit of conscience, I hope you at least implore of doing it.
And the worst is really horrible. You would think that people who have pretty much all the resources to learn about the genocide is actively promoting the voice of the perpetrator. This for sure is an eye opening incident, if we were to get to AGI one day, what biases it might hold. And by looking at the attitude of those in power, future is looking a bit bleak.
Not to agree or disagree with what you are saying here, unlike Rwanda and Bosnia, which were horrible enough, every single day of the apartheid and genocide operations are funded and aided by US. And in this instance the Nimbus program is actively complicit in it. If I were to use the trolley thing here, Rwanda and Bosnia were inaction, but this is fueling and arming the trolley to be a killing machine.
Didn't we have that one already? In Palestine, in 1948, and continuing today. People's religion are different, but their origins are the same, and propaganda is clearly inspired from it.
From commiting genocide to provoking other states by directly attacking their diplomatic mission, the only democracy in the galaxy, sure knows how to play the cards. Any response for the murder, even a mild one, would be used to downplay the genocide and garner support for itself.
So one day, Tim Cook is going to say, "This is iVac 2 Pro Max, the best Vacuum Cleaner ever"?
But really, it is one market that apple can easily penetrate, although it is very much possible that this had already started much before shelving the car project.
World Central Kitchen has stopped their actions in the area for now. I don't think people like these would stop doing that because some of their colleagues died in crossfire, or by mistake. The nature of this killing is pretty clear. The intent is here for anyone who wants to know. They were targeted, and would be murdered again. Law of the land is clear, it is a grave crime to feed the hungry. Because the hunger and the famine is by design. It is indeed a weapon of war, or genocide, of extermination and even humiliation. And do not attempt to change it.
The fortnine video about this type of engine is quite interesting:https://youtu.be/-3HBAvkc4a0?feature=shared
Mazda might be one company with the expertise to make it work. The range extender, not directly driving wheels, can work in its optimum temperature, rpm and on a pretty constant load. The ability to work with multiple types of fuel adds to its versatility as a range extender. Since Mazda has alliances with other Japanese car makers, if it is indeed a good proposition, I reckon it would appear on other Japanese cars too, and maybe in BMW as well.
