Great point. I'll buy this, as well as mixed-reality being the future, instead of all-encompassing VR. But there's quite a way to go from here, and some very interesting challenges when you face the problem of communal viewing (co-worker taking a glance at your monitor, watching tv, etc.).
I'm very curious to see what thought (if any) Apple has given this, if they're not just rolling out another pair of goggles with a LCD display inside.
The slow but steady success of the Apple Watch proves that they don't have to knock it out of the park on the first attempt anymore. It's going to be interesting to watch play out.
This seems like a solution looking for a problem. But who knows, maybe in ten years I'll be selling this comment as an NFT and cashing in my sweet sweet AppleCoin.
Manually having to re-pair once in every blue moon, one earbud playing while the other isn't, no automatic device switching without having to go through the Settings app everytime, A/V desync, dodgy mic quality, earbuds not waking up correctly when removing them from the case, etc are all part of the non-AirPods Bluetooth experience.
I recently switched to a pair of Sony Bluetooth headphones as I don't like the too-neutral AirPods Pro EQ curve, and while they sound excellent, the UX really leaves a bit to be desired.
I'd rather have reliable syncing with an Electron wrapper than a fully native UI with broken sync.
As stated in the OP Dropbox has become far too bloated, and just feels wrong. iCloud Drive only works 90% of the time, and doesn't play nice with apps that use absolute paths (even many Cocoa MacOS apps, which do this under the hood).
OneDrive is the only client that gets out of my way, just works, and even can automatically move unused files to the cloud without them disappearing from the filesystem entirely. It's crazy to think that Microsoft are making better Mac OS software than Apple.
I haven't considered going the self-hosted route yet, but Syncthing looks promising if you don't need folder sharing or robust iOS support.
Really disappointed that this seems to be a forced setting.
Seems like a strawman argument they’re using to cater better to brands/advertisers...
Windows has the same issues, where you'll see stuff dating back to the NT days in the Control Panel.
I can't even begin to imagine how many different internal UI frameworks the Mac OS developers need to juggle now, compared to when Aqua looked as fresh as iOS 7 did at launch.
Apparently, Apple had planned to completely scrap their computers before the 180° decision to move to M1 and cater to pro users again, so one isn't left wondering as to why Mac OS is this way when iOS is much more consistent. It's likely we won't ever see a new computer OS ever again, similarly to why the web seems to have settled on being a Blink/WebKit platform.
Is it a shame? Absolutely. But it's going to be impossible to convince an entire sales team to get their developers to fix UI inconsistencies and rewrite every nook and cranny in the system to use AppKit, instead of working on marketable features that move parts of Mac OS to parity with iOS.
I’m considering switching to iCloud Drive at this point but I’m not a huge fan of how it works either. Any alternatives I should be aware of?
as for why take2 wants to waste their time on this 15+ year old game, i have absolutely no idea. i highly doubt they can sell it any more to their target demographic of retro gamers, who've likely already bought it for ps2, steam and mobile...
add to this the fact that video recording on Android has a horrible rep for being blurry and blocky, staining the reputation further.
the time has come for legal action against Apple. this is textbook early-2000s MS behavior.
appreciate the work here.
