dsplaisted··on At Glassdoor, Find Out How Much People Really Make At Google, Microsoft, Yahoo
If you look at the screenshot on the techcrunch article it says they'll be able to show salary by location and years of experience when they have more data.
dsplaisted··on Flash on iPhone would be a huge revenue leak
It doesn't sound too plausible to me. It's only a revenue leak if the flash applications are going to stop people from paying money for Apps at the App store. But I think flash would mostly be used for free stuff, and would only really compete with the free Apps in the app store.
dsplaisted··on Apple claims Snow Leopard will be a "breakthrough" in parallel processing tech
Does anyone have a link to something with more juicy technical details than are provided in the article?
dsplaisted··on Ask HN: coding challenges as part of interviews: yes or no?
Indeed, whether candidates write code during their interview is one of the items on the Joel Test (http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/fog0000000043.html).
dsplaisted··on Free US ZIP Code Database as CSV
> don't spread it around Why not? Is it not public domain, or are you worried about the load on your server, or what?
dsplaisted··on Opentick: free real-time and historical market data for trading systems and trading platforms
Historical data should be available for free. The money you pay for real-time data is the exchange fee- ie it is paid to the NASDAQ, NYSE, or whoever. The exchanges do not allow real-time data to be offered for free.
dsplaisted··on Windows 7 to break previous API compatibility
I call BS. The trouble Microsoft has had with Vista would be nothing compared to the trouble it would have if ALL applications had to be recompiled to work with Windows 7. The article cites no sources and doesn't offer any substantiation at all for its claims.
