dserodio··on Docker cannot be downloaded without logging into Docker Store
Great explanation, thanks
dserodio··on Reddit Security Incident
Do you have the link to that guide by any chance? I haven't found a guide that's practical enough for my needs yet.

"Agile Estimating and Planning" by Mike Cohn is pretty good.
dserodio··on IBM Quad9 – A free security solution using DNS to protect against cyber threats
Quad9 DNS is 10x (or worse!) slower then Google's for me (I'm in São Paulo, Brazil). Will this output help you troubleshoot DNS performance?

Maybe the author's mother tongue is Portuguese (we spell "diferente"). This typo is probably the one I commit the most :)
dserodio··on Vivaldi 1.12 released
While I love FF, it's so much slower than Chrome on JS-intensive sites. The Chrome feature I miss the most is the Task Manager, so I can find out which tab or extension is hogging my CPU/RAM.
dserodio··on Moby: An open-source project to advance containerization
Yeah:

- Moby VM is (was?) the name of the Linux VM that Docker for Mac (and Windows too, I think) runs as the host for Docker containers. - Moby Dock is the name of the whale in Docker's logo

A Google search for "moby docker" restricted to results before April 2017 shows plenty of results

Edit: sample search result: http://lucjuggery.com/blog/?p=753

I got bitten by this on https://about.gitlab.com/contact/

I thought "hey, the Newsletter and Security Notices icons aren't clickable", opened a ticket, and found that the input and submit elements that should be under those icons were being blocked by disconnect.me :)

dserodio··on WhatsApp backdoor allows snooping on encrypted messages
Yeah, I've seen this behaviour with Signal. It's UI is somewhat confusing thou, it took me a while to understand that I needed to re-generate keys so what I could "fix" my conversation. There was no redelivery of the messages that couldn't be decrypted thou.
dserodio··on WhatsApp backdoor allows snooping on encrypted messages
I often give Signal another chance, but it's UI is horrible. Some messages are not delivered, some are delivered only to Signal Desktop but not to my cell phone so I'm only notified days after the message was sent...
dserodio··on Blue Ocean
It kind of did already. It used to live at https://jenkins-ci.org, and was moved to http://jenkins.io to communicate that it's not "only CI", but also CD.
dserodio··on Blue Ocean
I'd love to see -- or even better, read :) -- about how you "compose on resources".

I asked the exact same question on last week's Jenkins Online Meetup and got this answer: it's Jenkins pipeline under the hood, so the stages are only restartable if you're running Cloudbees' Jenkins Enterprise.

dserodio··on Docker in Production: A History of Failure
One thing that bit me is that on RH 7.1 you _should_ use ext4[1], but on RH 7.2 you _need_ to use xfs[2]

dserodio··on GitLab Master Plan
The navigation bar on the left was much better then on the top. Most current displays are widescreen, so vertical space is more valuable then horizontal space. Unfortunately I can't easily find a "before" screenshot to make a fair comparison, but I feel that the current navigation menu wastes more space and looks worse then the previous one.

Speaking of which, one of the ST improvements I keep waiting for is a decent forum. One of the best things about ST is the community, but ST's official forum sucks. It doesn't send email notifications because JPS doesn't want to manage email servers. How can he be so cheap? Pay the Discourse folks for a great hosted forum and be done with it!

dserodio··on Vault – A tool for managing secrets
I haven't finished reading the docs yet, but this part[1] caught my attention:

> When a backend is unmounted, all of its secrets are revoked and its data is deleted.

If a backend is similar to a filesystem as mentioned in the docs, that's quite a surprise. If a backend is like a filesystem, the secrets (files) should become unavailable when unmounted, but should become available again after remounting the backend (filesystem).

Are the secrets actually _deleted_ (ie, can't be recovered again), or am I misunderstanding?

Starting a new project in C++ in 2015? Why not Go, Rust, or any compiled, memory-safe language for systems programming?
dserodio··on The new Google Contacts
There are risks: I merged some contacts on the new web UI and now my Android phone has 8(!) different versions of one particular contact of mine.
