dschep··on Show HN: Thruhikes – A list of long distance hikes around the world
You are correct about OSM. You can see them easily on https://hiking.waymarkedtrails.org/
dschep··on EU pushes for 'right to disconnect' from work at home
Why are you still going into an office during a pandemic? That's far more unreasonable.
dschep··on Vim-Mario: Mario on Vim
I got really far in reading the comments in response to this before I realized Doom Emacs wasn't an implementation of the video game in emacs lisp.
dschep··on Show HN: Wayfind Maps – For Navigating Apartment Complexes in DFW
Do you have any plans of georeferencing the images so you can see your own GPS position on the map?
dschep··on L.A. temporarily suspends Uber’s permit to rent out electric scooters and bikes
WoBike is great, and I've contributed to that repo too, but that data is quite different from data in question in this article. Unless I'm mistaken, most of the reverse engineered APIs (and public ones in municipalities that mandate them) are for _available_ scooters. This article is about scooter location while it's being ridden around by a renter.
dschep··on Firefox 70 released for Firefox Quantum: Developer Edition
> allows you to install extensions on your own machine without seeking approval from Mozilla

Unless it changed quite recently, you can do this with normal Firefox builds too AFAIK

dschep··on Show HN: Linbox – a free, open-source Google Inbox alternative
Some screenshots would be nice. And you really need a privacy policy ;)
dschep··on AirPods with Wireless Charging Case
I have the Bragi Dash which has 4GB of storage. Because their bluetooth is pretty crummy, they actually work best as an in-ear mp3 player, no phone required. It's pretty nice for running because carrying a giant phone in running clothes is a nuisance.
dschep··on Tesla Model Y
Still looks a bit too big to be practical in European cities.
dschep··on Travis CI acquired by Idera
Ah, I'll have to check it out
dschep··on Travis CI acquired by Idera
It's worth noting that Travis also supports windows builds now. Which to me is a HUGE value proposition over CircleCI.
dschep··on Travis CI acquired by Idera
I've actually seen (and need to do so myself) a few migrate to(or move even more into) Travis because they've added Windows builds. AFAIK they're the only hosted CI that offers Linux, Mac, AND Windows builders.
dschep··on Show HN: Instantly create a secure URL to your Mac
AFAICT:

+ GUI

- Cross platform support

- request inspection support

- non-http tunnel support(unclear, docs/faq is terrible)

dschep··on Show HN: Markdeck – author cool slides, text-only, offline-ready, collaborative
The showcase slides claim support: https://arnehilmann.github.io/markdeck/showcase/#/features
dschep··on Show HN: Run Puppeteer on AWS Lambda
Here's another alternative lambda layer containing headless chrome with and puppeteer example: https://github.com/RafalWilinski/serverless-puppeteer-layers
dschep··on Uber Revenue Slows as Quarterly Loss Surges to $1.1B
Cabbie drivers lying about their credit card machine is a moot point if your jurisdiction has a decent regulatory body. In DC if they pull that shit, I just get out with out paying as they're not abiding by the law and the dept of for hire vehicles will have my back.
dschep··on Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication Could Replace Traffic Lights, Shorten Commutes
So how does this work with non-car vehicles? Bikes. Scoots. Pedicabs. etc.
dschep··on Show HN: Mole – an open source tool to easily create ssh tunnels
What about reverse & dynamic ssh tunnels? (ssh -R or ssh -D instead of ssh -L)
dschep··on Evergreen: a React UI Framework built by Segment
> Edge and Firefox are only missing Shadow DOM and Custom Elements, which they are already developing.

> On mobile Web 100% of the browsers support Web Components.

Wait. Which is it? Or are you ignoring Firefox Mobile?

dschep··on The Making of Underrun – A WebGL Shooter in 13kb of JavaScript
That's so awesome! Especially because it's inspired by Candide Thovex's One of those days. Link for those who aren't familiar(he also used CGI for some of the things that would be super dangerous, he skied the line, but people weren't actually there): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygxufRprWpY
dschep··on The Effectiveness of Publicly Shaming Bad Security
Freedom of the press foundation does this for HTTPS for news sites: https://securethe.news/sites/

Though, imo, they should be sorted with the worst offenders on top.

dschep··on Show HN: Proven – An alternative to Twitter's verified accounts, with HN support
Huh. That's interesting. I don't see any on your profile either. I've added a bug to figure that. outhttps://github.com/dschep/proven/issues/21
dschep··on Show HN: Proven – An alternative to Twitter's verified accounts, with HN support
Update to v2.3.1 and there's an option to show only the keybase badge :)

A popup will happen eventually, but that'll take a bit more development effort.

dschep··on Show HN: Proven – An alternative to Twitter's verified accounts, with HN support
Interesting. I'll probably add some form of github and/or reddit support in the future, and I don't feel comfortable adding those URLs unnecessarily, so at somepoint there will be permissions updates anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
dschep··on Show HN: Proven – An alternative to Twitter's verified accounts, with HN support
I don't know. Does it use the web extension "standard"? If so, it' shouldn't be difficult, I just don't have the equipment to test that.
dschep··on Show HN: Proven – An alternative to Twitter's verified accounts, with HN support
Since the biggest complaint has been about clutter, I've added an option to show only the keybase badge. Update to v2.3.1 once Chrome Web Store & Firefox Add-ons updates are pushed/approved!
dschep··on Show HN: Proven – An alternative to Twitter's verified accounts, with HN support
Hah. Already did that in version v2.2 :)
dschep··on Show HN: Proven – An alternative to Twitter's verified accounts, with HN support
I've already pushed 2.2 in which I did exactly that :)
dschep··on Show HN: Proven – An alternative to Twitter's verified accounts, with HN support
That'd be neat. Like docker hub supports and f-droid requires(IIRC)!
dschep··on Show HN: Proven – An alternative to Twitter's verified accounts, with HN support
1. definitely! thanks for the pointer

2. yeah. I should do that.

3. Yup. Already on my roadmap, just makes things a bit more complicated.

Edit: 1 & 2 done in v2.2
