dsab··on How to Survive in a Louisiana Swamp
Shot up a horde of zombies
dsab··on Pystd, similar-ish functionality with a fraction of the compile time
Out of curiosity what are your projects written in C for Windows? GUI apps?
dsab··on O(x)Caml in Space
CCSDS guides you to reinvent everything from scratch, I doubt memory safety is the biggest attack surface when you implement this stack. I dont know how big players implement networking for their satellites, but personally I would choose to fit something existing and battle-tested like TLS instead of reinventing data encryption, just look at those documents: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-lm&q=ccsds+en...
dsab··on Have a fucking website
I have the same feeling paying for LLMs, it sucks we are financing genocide tools used by guys who are blackmailed with Epstein movies.
dsab··on The United States and Israel have launched a major attack on Iran
US is valuable Israel asset
dsab··on Using the new bridges of FreeBSD 15
> Linux is becoming new Windows and BSDs new Linux.

Can you elaborate?

dsab··on FPGAs Need a New Future
I had the misfortune of working with the Xilinx Vivado environment, it's a fucking garbage, the software is straight out of the 90s, everything is glued together with shell scripts and the TCL scripting language, the IDE throws thousands of warnings and errors while building a sample project, the documentation is missing or spread over 150 PDFs, if the manufacturer of your evaluation board prepared an example for the previous version of Vivado, you must have two installations, which is probably about 2 * 100GB, if you want to keep anything under version control, you have to use some external tools, it's all absurd.
dsab··on Don’t Look Up: Sensitive internal links in the clear on GEO satellites [pdf]
I was working in space industry and ECSS security guidelines are missleading grant seeking startups to try to reinvent TLS on orbit. There are to mamy bureaucracy. ECSS guidelines for software teams were created by people who never written a Hello World in their life, just look at specs of ECSS Packet Utilisation Service, it's a joke, that's why I prefer to work for VC funded companies than grant funded.
dsab··on Show HN: JPDB, GDB for Your Waveforms
What is waveform? How it is supposed to impact the debugging process. More info is needed to atract general audience, not everyone is desiging own CPU even here.
dsab··on A webshell and a normal file that have the same MD5
It's a pity that there is no description of what it is supposed to be used for.
dsab··on Top UN legal investigators conclude Israel is guilty of genocide in Gaza
Yes, this is ownership issue, nothing new :)
dsab··on Show HN: Port Kill – A lightweight macOS status bar development port monitor
What is "development process" ??? What is "business use case" of this tool? Such a big readme and no introduction to why I should be interested in this tool.
dsab··on FCC to eliminate gigabit speed goal and scrap analysis of broadband prices
I have never noticed throttling, however I am not a "heavy user", just an average one.
dsab··on FCC to eliminate gigabit speed goal and scrap analysis of broadband prices
True, before fiber, 5 years ago, there was ADSL2 connection in my family house.
dsab··on FCC to eliminate gigabit speed goal and scrap analysis of broadband prices
It keeps that speed at peak times without any issues, low pings, fast download speeds. With such internet connection the server is bottleneck, so if I download Linux distro I often choose torrent download option. There is no official data caps too.
dsab··on FCC to eliminate gigabit speed goal and scrap analysis of broadband prices
In Poland I have 1000/300 fiber in my family house village with ~500 people population and same 1000/300 fiber in city I currently live both for 30 USD / month.
dsab··on Fictional K-pop bands zoom to top of US music charts

dsab··on LeetCode for System Design
I don't have a google account to login on this site, so it's useless for me
dsab··on One-Click RCE in Asus's Preinstalled Driver Software
Which motherboard should I buy next time I will upgrade my PC? MSI, Asrock or Gigabyte?
dsab··on Was zombie-Bench just acquired?
What is "zombie-bench" ? There is no info on the internet
dsab··on Ask HN: Predictions for 2025?
What is the meaning of this term? I am not native english speaker
dsab··on 418 I’m a teapot
I love those RFC documents. I am currently working with CCSDS documents and they are total trash comparing to RFC. For example when I read documents about how TCP works or TLS works I see that it has been written by professionals with experience and vision. And CCSDS documents have been written by bureaucrats who have never written a line of code in their lives.
dsab··on Show HN: I made a Bluesky video downloader that can download videos from Bluesky
How does this post brake rules?
dsab··on Flox, a better alternative to Dev Containers
I am curious how the company behind Flox intends to make money, I hope they intend to make money on consulting or operate non-profit sponsored by some institutions.
dsab··on Show HN: I made a Bluesky video downloader
It is a shame that "decentralized" social network does not allow you to download videos
dsab··on Blocking code is a leaky abstraction
I have the same experience, I like splitting my embedded C microcontroller peripheral drivers into 3 layers:

- header files with registers addresses and bitmasks

- asynchronous layer that starts transactions or checks transaction state or register interrupt handler called when transaction changes states

- top, RTOS primitives powered, blocking layer which encapsulates synchronization problems and for example for UART offers super handy API like this:

status uart_init(int id, int baudrate)

status uart_write(int id, uint8_t* data, int data_len, int timeout_ms)

status uart_read(int id, uint8_t* buf, int buf_len, int timeout_ms, int timeout_char_ms)

Top, blocking API usually covers 95% use cases where business logic code just want to send and receive something and not reinvent the synchronization hell

dsab··on FCC wants all phones unlocked in sixty days, AT&T and T-Mobile aren't so keen
I bought Samsung S21 from some shady reseller because original Samsung store was trying to steal my data by a promotion where I need to give them my bank account number and they will send my 20% of phone price back, then when I returned with phone to home and turned on phone I saw a message saying "this phone is a property of Polkomtel (on of carriers operating in Poland), it will be locked if you stop paying the bills", shady reseller agreed to replace my phone with another one not fucked up by a greedy carrier who is making incomes private (selling expensive phone in subscription model for people with no credit rank, often abusing this subscription model as low rate credit (they are goi g from carrier straight to lombard) and making loses public (they will lock my phone if someone dont pay)
dsab··on Calling All Hackers
> I suggest that, given the insane proliferation of valueless derivatives and ejection of human values from these systems

What do you mean by "these systems" ? Blockchain based money?

dsab··on We know why some people got Covid while others didn't
Yes, your post is down-voted by a logic and rational thought denialists. You are not attacking the view but you are attacking them because they have become believers of the Covidian Church
dsab··on Intel pauses work on $25B Israel fab
Come to Poland, our country has no charges of genocide brought against it in international court and labour is cheap
