drum··on Show HN: React-live
Worked well for me in Chrome. One very minor suggestion - perhaps you should add the text "You can dump stuff on #el" to the code to show beginners where to edit.
drum··on RadioShack Prepares Bankruptcy Filing
RadioShack sounds like an incredible opportunity for a blue chip software company wanting to get into hardware with a brick and mortar presence. Thousands of retail locations ready to go, all across the US has to be worth something to somebody.
drum··on Why we prefer founding CEOs (2010)
This reminds me of a graph I saw in Forbes that showed tech companies with founder CEO's outperforming the S&P 500. A mutual fund built around the premise would be interesting to watch and possibly invest in.

drum··on Burger King's CEO Is 33
"They don't invent crazy new things."

In the world of fast food, I see this as a problem. Taco Bell released the Dorito Loco Taco which has now made its way on to the main menu. Subway releases new promotional subs and items like the Flatizza, it seems almost bi-monthly. While the latter may not be as big of a success, it still garners awareness.

I can't think of one "crazy" item Burger King has released in the last few years.

drum··on India’s Answer to Google Glass: The Smartshoe
Shoes are a fantastic idea, and highly overlooked. The biggest hurdle to wearable technology is the friction required to convince a consumer to wear it. We all wear shoes. We don't all wear glasses or watches. Some of us even wear contacts to avoid wearing glasses. The Smartshoe doesn't seem as competitive to Google Glass as it is complimentary. Glasses have a better appeal for visual media capture because you can see what you're capturing in real time and from a better angle. The Smartshoe could have a better appeal for fitness and GPS use cases. Emphasizing 'smartsole' would probably be a better sell than 'smartshoe' though. Letting consumers stick with their personal fashion choices, i.e. Nike, Vans, is a powerful selling point.
drum··on 4chan Intrusion Postmorterm
Moot mentions refunds for targeted users. I was unaware 4chan offered something purchasable. Anybody know what he's referring to?
drum··on Anonymity
Anonymity isn't as black and white as everyone keeps portraying it. Take HN for example - we all have usernames, some of which are our real names. Sites like 4Chan and LikeALittle - all harbor true anonymity. I agree with Sam that those sites decay over time. However, sites like Reddit and HN that are built around pseudo-anonymity and voting have been able to produce thoughtful discussion
drum··on The Two Teenagers Who Run the Popular Twitter Feed @HistoryInPics
Your articles are fine, but you're missing one key component...pictures. If each headline had a pic I bet you'd be doing much better

drum··on Show HN: Product Hunt – Hacker News for Products
Had one of my apps featured on PH and was amazed at the quality of feedback. Ryan himself wrote a detailed review and a designer from Pinterest pointed out a UI flaw I'd never even thought about.

drum··on 1% rule (Internet culture)
While this seems true for a lot of websites, it seems that the true 'home run' apps of the last 10 years have a much higher number of creators. Instagram in particular makes it insanely easy to be a creator, but more importantly, a creator of something that you're proud to share. The apps that can more widely enable creators in this ratio, are the apps I believe really take off.
drum··on Why Cruise Ships are My Favorite Remote Work Location
The idea of being able to travel around the world with just a laptop reminds me of being a 21st century writer. Take the notepad to a remote beach and just write. I love the idea of working on a cruise ship but I imagine it would get kind of hard to code without internet. Is that something you face?

drum··on How I Got My First 1000 Users in 1 Day
You need to really think about 3. Asking someone to sign in using facebook or twitter is much more than the physical action of tapping twice. you're asking for something emotional, their personal data. It would help others and myself if you posted what your app does. i would only use those as a form of login signup if your app absolutely depends on it - Tinder is a great example of this.

DUUUUDE! my mind just got blown. I haven't tried this. Great idea. And no way, you even wrote the headlines?!

drum··on How I Got My First 1000 Users in 1 Day
This was probably my most embarrassing oversight. Your first point is the way it's working. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to make that work without segmenting the map into fixed cells... any thoughts?
