drchaim··on Show HN: A benchmark for analytical databases (Snowflake, Druid, Redshift)
I would say deep optimizations in every aspect of the data cycle. From storing to querying data is heavily optimized. I recall an online meetup where a 10ms gain after a patch was huge celebrated. That kind of things compound over and over and make a really fast data platform for that use cases.
drchaim··on Jasonette – Native App over HTTP
I built my last mobile app with Ionic, every time I created a new page, new endpoint sending JSON i was wondering why I wasn't sending just Ionic html from the server, or that the JSON contains the UI.

Now even to a small UI change I need to redeploy the app to app stores, which is ...tiresome.

A pity I didn't know this way before.

drchaim··on The Gov.uk Design System is now live
Always I go to any .gov.uk website I only feel envy comparing it to the .gob.es I need to deal with from time to time.
drchaim··on Amazon Elastic File System Update – Sub-Millisecond Read Latency
I'm thinking of a ClickHouse database which files are on EFS. Clickhouse is usualy much faster than RDS/Redshift for the use cases is designed for, and having EFS will ease a lot replication efforts.

drchaim··on Ask HN: Good open source alternatives to Google Analytics?
As I predicted around 2018, most or all analytics/events products will eventually move to ClickHouse or related technology (forks).

Plausible: ClickHouse

PostHog: ClickHouse

Panbelbear: Clickhouse

https://pirsch.io/: ClickHouse.

PD: I should have a blog or something where I put this predicts :)

drchaim··on Databases in 2021: A Year in Review
This is the way for my also.
drchaim··on Show HN: Distributed Tracing Using OpenTelemetry and ClickHouse
I've been thinking about mixing OpenTelemetry and CH for a while. There is a wild competition in this area, hope you luck and fun!
drchaim··on Ask HN: Those making $500/month on side projects in 2021 – Show and tell
Congrats on this! I've also though about this kind of app to a solution for the "app fatigue". I really like the design, simple and fast.
drchaim··on What's New in ClickHouse 21.12
I made a PoC to replace our current ElasticSearch cluster with Clickhouse 20.10. 5x gains in space and 3x gains in QPS, without changing too much the schema model. It's still in a PoC repo, priorities I guess..
drchaim··on TimescaleDB raises $40M
Congrats to the tsdb team. I've tried the database extension months ago and it works perfect for my use case standalone. I just need to integrate it with Django, which is not easy given the current schema of the database and the way Django creates defaults autoincrements and PK, but I'm sure there will be a workaround for that.

drchaim··on Ask HN: Are you/your company still using Python 2 in production?
Only one project is still in Python2. A project that were transfered to my without test, docs, etc. and a component heavily relying in sockets, unicode, regex that i'm quite scare to port to python3.

I'll guess I will decouple that component from others and I'll keep it in python3 while porting the rest to python3 in the future.

drchaim··on Apple sends a letter to Hey: Change your app or get out of the App Store
I'm probably missing something, but can't Hey just make subscriptions in their page and let the App from free in the App Store?

Is the same as gmail, I can pay for a Google Suite, but the app is freely distributed in stores.

Basecamp should have great products (I've never used them), but it seems they are using this as a marketing strategy.

drchaim··on Keycloak: Open-source identity and access management
It it easy to save along the user information like companies, contracts and so on?
drchaim··on Types for Python HTTP APIs
https://github.com/zalando/connexion/

Solves most of the problems for that.

drchaim··on How Uploadcare Built a Stack That Handles 350M File API Requests per Day
All I can say is they don't seem to donate Django project.
drchaim··on Ask HN: How much are you earning as a freelance app developer?
I'm so much interested in that book to improve my business skills. Any reference?
drchaim··on Ask HN: How much are you earning as a freelance app developer?
This threads make me mad. In a theorically developed country making about 10€/h from freelancing as a side job. Mostly web with Python/Django and frontend.
