That and some have bridged the gap with tooling. starter projects+ Strick typing + dead code detection, linting rules and today's models can get you pretty far, especially if you plan out some basic architectural patterns with your starter kit.

It's not perfect but any means but it helps manage ones sanity.

drbojingle··on SpaceX Is Buying Cursor
Nope. Vim and Neovim users can use the cusor-agent cli for agentic stuff and there prefered editing tool for editing. All the major providers have a cli specific version these days. Probably because folks actually didn't want to actually use the cursor Gui and once Claude code came along those folks jumped ship and went full cli again
drbojingle··on US and Iran announce deal to end military operations
Yes, removing leadership is very important. It's why the US does it every 4 to 8 years. The Iranians aren't gone just because they lost a leader. If anything they proved resilient.

The biggest problems with all of this seem to be the knock-on effects, as well as the lead-up. Does this new deal actually do more than Obama's? Doubtful. Obama's didn't come with a girls' school blown to bits or a world leader assassinated.

Everything around the politics of the attack looks amateurish. Calling on Europe to attack Iran even though no deal is in place with them to do so. Not stopping Iranian strikes throughout the middle east. Not keeping Israel in line. The war has been dragging on for months, but "it'll end this week." No, this week. "Very close this week." "Very close this week."

Then there's the issue of shooting down cheap drones with expensive equipment. Why in the name of the Lord is it that Ukraine has been bombed by Shaheds for years and defended against them using NATO and US weapons, but operators of US equipment in the Middle East had nothing to show for it? Did the US not have direct access to how the Ukrainians were using their equipment in a war characterized by the use of drones and AI to an extent never before seen? Did the US decide to not look into that for years, or simply let it slide knowing Iran would bomb its neighbors? Why was it that Zelenskyy had to go to the Middle East to make sure they used American weapons correctly? It seems to me lately that every country that can produce a meaningful amount of oil has been directly or indirectly affected by American aggression, and one has to wonder why you'd do something so blatant in slow motion.

drbojingle··on Statement on US government directive to suspend access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5
I do think the Chinese will give away strong models. The US government can't control that and would make a mess if they tried. Companies making SOTA models would be undercut and all the funding that went into them would be wasted. Sounds like a great strategy for the Chinese.

drbojingle··on Why senior developers fail to communicate their expertise
They fail to communicate in the same way we fail to download a copy of "the truths of the world as we know it" into every child's brain. It's easily to say " look both ways when you cross the road" but speech is so one dimensional. It's a slow tape reel and that's just the encoding.

I released https://afteractions.net a while back. it's a tool for facilitating sprint retro ceremonies.

drbojingle··on Shooting down ideas is not a skill
Well, you can help nurture it. Prehaps instead of speaking how about how it couldn't work think about what you'd need to do to make it work or where it could work. Tend to the garden!
drbojingle··on UBI as a productivity dividend
I think the issue with ubi is it's not really basic. Cloths food and shelter are basic. I'm much more inclined to support ubi if it's food shelter cloths.

drbojingle··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (February 2026)
I've been building several things lately in my spare time:

- After Actions (https://www.afteractions.net/) - The company I work for pays for retrospective software, and I figured I could make my own. So I did! Good for agile retrospective ceremonies

- Data Atlas (https://www.data-atlas.net/) - Right now, it's a basic JSON Schema form builder with a UI on top, but I intend to expand it and improve it to be more than that this year.

I've been working on a BuddhaBoard-like app and a few other projects, but nothing I'm prepared to share right now. Maybe next month :D

drbojingle··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (January 2026)
Location: St John's, NL, Canada Remote: yes Willing to relocate: No Tech: JS/TS, Node.js, React, Linux, Laravel/PHP, Django/Python, NVIM (yes, I be liking dem hotkeys), and plenty of AI tooling (Claude Code, Gemini, Cursor) Résumé/CV: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ImCaLmoaCpjtPmKECjD3uR7j3J0... email: c.ryan@mun.ca

I have over a decade of experience in development and several years in leadership as well. I'm particularly fond of start-ups, and I like to build things in my spare time.

Recently, in my free time, I've been delving into vibe coding with Claude Code. A couple of my results thus far are here:

https://data-atlas.net - A simple JSON Schema-based form builder https://afteractions.net - A collaborative retrospective tool for agile teams

Among other AI projects I undertake.

drbojingle··on Professional software developers don't vibe, they control
Everything is made of smaller parts. I'd like to think we can sub divide a code base into isolated modules at least.

What's the difference between using llms now vs the first half of 2025 among the best users?
drbojingle··on Package managers keep using Git as a database, it never works out
A well designed feature IS considerate of time and attention. Why would I want a game on 20 fps when I could have it on 120? The smoothness of the experience increases my ability to use the experience optimally because I don't have to pay as much attention to it. I'd prefer if my interactions with machines were as smooth as my interactions driving a car down a empty dry highway mid day.

Prehaps not everyone cares but I've played enough Age of Empires 2 to know that there are plenty of people who have felt value gains coming from shaving seconds off this and that to get compound games over time. It's a concept plenty of folks will be familiar with.

drbojingle··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (December 2025)
I recently built a simple JSON schema form builder for my own purposes. I'm going to expand on it with the ability to send forms via email, handle bigger and more complex forms and then tackle document parsing. https://data-atlas.net for anyone into that kind of thing.
drbojingle··on We're losing our voice to LLMs
Dude that's an algorithm.
drbojingle··on We're losing our voice to LLMs
No, there needs to be control over the algorithms that get used. You ought to be able to tune it. There needs to be a Google fuu equivalent for social media. Or, instead of one platform one algorithm, let users define the algorithm to a certain degree, using llms to help with that and then you can allow others to access your algorithms too. Asking for someone Facebook to tweak the algorithm is not going to help imo.

If it's not open source then don't make it public but if you want to lose your fear, just do it. It's not like it matters that much.
