good luck with that. you think it would be possible for people to look at china and italy and realize the same thing is now happening here in the US. but large percentage populace has already been fed multiple contradictory narratives and have convinced themselves it's "just the flu" as it's the most convenient reality. your "science" is fairly useless in combatting ignorance, arrogance and selfishness. but regardless i hope you do try.
Absolutely the right thing to do, but they only did it after days of headlines of big sponsors pulling out as well as online petitions. I hope this serves as an example to other cities hosting upcoming events. There are a lot of conferences that still have not been cancelled.
Something that confuses me is, why would governments minimize the risk and not take necessary steps to slow the virus? It seems obvious that the short-term economic gains resulting from such an approach are vastly outweighed by the negative consequences of an extended and prolonged outbreak. I'm missing something.
ever since the beginning of this crisis, countries have been either hiding or underreporting the numbers. lack of adequate testing means that clusters are discovered late, after the virus has had a chance to spread. it's not so much a thirst for disaster as it is a thirst for knowledge so that we can better prepare ourselves. even in the US, the CDC seems at odds with the president as to the severity of the virus and its spread. if anything, it's governments that are "aligning the numbers" so as to avoid mass panic, downturns in markets, etc.
after much consideration i just recommended vue to a friend who is in a similar situation as yourself. apart from technical aspects, also consider that although there are currently more react jobs, there are also hordes of developers and bootcamp grads going into the react world, and it may be more difficult to differentiate yourself.
sure, but those types of ads aren't really for people like you. they are for the vast majority of Windows users who aren't in control of their machine but are instead being controlled by it. many don't even realize they can get rid of those ads, or they give in and just start using Edge..
I'm fairly language agnostic. What keeps me working in PHP is the Laravel framework, with all of the application plumbing and core functionality built-in and tested for me, so all I have to do is write the code specific to my application. Every once in a while I search for other frameworks but still haven't found anything that competes.
"It's not happening in my country" is a naive argument. You might not care if human rights activists and HK protesters are affected. But Apple's actions in China set a precedent for other countries to follow. If a country demands that Apple "comply with local laws" by providing encryption keys or else risk losing access to that marketplace, Apple will comply, regardless of its effect on user privacy.
Just a reminder, Apple ceded control of its iCloud management in China to a state-controlled company, in addition began storing its encryption keys in China in order to "comply with local regulations". So whether or not your backups are encrypted is almost a moot point, given that the government can submit a lawful demand for your data at any time..
i deserve to be downvoted for lack of evidence. and i have a skewed view of things. i have lived in two separate "food deserts" in the rural US in the past three years, where the nearest food sources are either fast food, "comfort food", or dollar general/family dollar, with the nearest grocery store a 20-30 minute drive. both towns have a local farmers market during growing months, but prices are very expensive compared to local wages. i see your point, but still don't think that all blame can be placed on poor consumers.
> Starving fat doesn’t exist. If people choose to eat bad food that’s their choice.
We can't place blame fully on consumers. "Food deserts" are spreading while quality, variety and abundance of fresh food is decreasing. Meanwhile fast food is cheap, heavily marketed, and engineered for its addictiveness. In many areas poor people don't actually have much choice.
i wonder the same thing, it's an arms race, perhaps someone will release a counter-measure like the chinese meitu (http://global.meitu.com/) that is trained against these types of ai's..
I find it sad to see this type of argument, increasingly it seems our only justification for the decline of the US is, "At least we're not as bad as X." As in, "Sure companies and the gov sell all our data, but at least we're not like China!". Feels like we've given up even trying to live up to our liberal Western ideals...
i can see 8 as a safe bet. with star wars as well. i can also imagine the fan fiction genre exploding into live enactments with look-alike amateurs acting & editing at a high quality level, with post deep fake blended in seamlessly. many of these will rival hollywood in production value and definitely surpass hollywood in storytelling.
this is an important point. long ago just being able to write html and use ftp could get you a cozy job. the problems being tackled now often require advanced skills in machine learning and data science. as the requirements go up, software development may begin to more closely resemble medicine- high pay but also lifetime learning and high demands
