dotborg··on Ask HN: If you had 5 years of uninterrupted time, what would you build and why?
team!
dotborg··on Mobile Operators Announce Commitment to Firefox OS
just like large part of GOOG revenue comes from Google being the default search engine in Firefox,

some day Mozilla may pull the plug and switch to some other SE i.e. Bing or DDG

dotborg··on Ask HN: What is the coolest JS library out there?
Dojo Toolkit, amazing build system
dotborg··on Bootstrap 2.3 Released
Replace all CSS transitions with JavaScript transitions.

why?

dotborg··on Employees leave managers, not companies
Being able to earn some money on the internet does not make you any smarter from any other profession. So it's just the internet what makes you feel so special. Good luck software engineering your bilion dollars without it.
dotborg··on Employees leave managers, not companies
Software engineer job is not different from any other and I can't see any reason why it SHOULD be.
dotborg··on Patch for Postgres DDOS vulnerability comitted
Using foreign keys and transactions in Postgres? You should be interested in this patch :)
dotborg··on What's so great about JavaScript Promises?
ES6 generators are futures
dotborg··on Ignore Ruby Go Python
why Python?
dotborg··on 600K concurrent HTTP connections with Clojure and http-kit
Once You give a little bit more of real code into those requests your JVM will die from continous GC. It's simple math :)
dotborg··on Why the Fuck?
"the smartest guys" didn't want to work on health problems, ok, however

Google Search is pretty much crap lately, AdWords/Facebook ads campaigns are expensive and ineffective

maybe it's not that bad after all

dotborg··on MEGA require source code of Applications using their API
just like Google requires a lot of informations(including source code) when applying for AdWords API
dotborg··on Handling Growth with Postgres
they read postgres docs, that's just.. amazing:)
dotborg··on Try JavaScript macro expansion using Sweet.js in the browser
problem of static analysis in JS code is difficult, yet it's worth to solve,

coolness of JS and safety of static analysis, that would be great

macros are just lame workaround:)

dotborg··on Try JavaScript macro expansion using Sweet.js in the browser
I see at least two problems:

- debugging such code is a nightmare(node.js itself makes it hard enough)

- static analysis of such code is not possible.. yet?

JS and programmers should target Java-like experience imo, static analysis, code assist, dependency check - all of it performed on-the-fly. We won't get it by creating yet another layer above main language, because IDE vendors simply can't cope.

dotborg··on Try JavaScript macro expansion using Sweet.js in the browser
that's not the direction language and programmers should follow
dotborg··on The Nightmare That Keeps Microsoft Awake: Android On The Desktop
docking station, monitor, keyboard + mouse?

that's no longer a smartphone

dotborg··on Ask HN: Are desktop apps dead?
web based WYSIWYG document editors are mature, yet MS Office is just fine
dotborg··on Ask HN: How can a seasoned developer approach design and be good enough?
This way your designing process is limited to your HTML/CSS skills, while the point of being being good designer is to have no limits(except imagination)
dotborg··on Ask HN: Web app architecture
use window.pushstate instead of urls with hashes,

you can change URL in window address without reloading entier page

Google will index "hashbangs", but they will rank poorly and you will get only small amount of traffic from search

dotborg··on We are in the final years of our internet
I agree, we are in the final 60 years of our internet
dotborg··on Ask HN: Which current tech company will have the highest valuation in 10 years?
Facebook, because it's still not using all of its potential.
dotborg··on Ask HN: Do you agree with Blocking ADS
in your opinion, are there any ADS on HN?
dotborg··on Ask HN: Why github repos don't have a share button?
actually, lack of those buttons is a feature
dotborg··on Is android the next big gaming platform?
is it worth to spend 10s of milions of dollars on high quality game for android ecosystem?
dotborg··on Ask HN: Is coffee healthy?
why would you care wether it is healthy or not? it will not shorten your life by half
dotborg··on C++ Employment Future....
mobile gaming is not future of C++

on the other hand, does traditional gaming have any future?

dotborg··on JavaScript is the new Perl
at all costs sure, but why should I waste so much time?
dotborg··on JavaScript is the new Perl
There was much more "magic" in CGI/Perl. The only "magic" in JS in fact is caused by browser vendors and have nothing to do with language itself.
dotborg··on Unplug From Google
that's very cool story, but I did not see anything like that in google terms of use: "we provide search, you click ads"

actually it's more like: "we provide search, all informations about you belong to us!"

so "customer" is not the most appropiate word here, how about "slave"?
