those things are really cool from coder POV, but as an user.. sounds like increased CPU usage and nothing else.

if it's less than 1mil and they are not updated frequently, you should go for postgres and have some fun with SQL,
more data and increased concurrency means problems also in postgres, a lot of optimizing, materializing views and other fun problems to solve.
if the speed is greater or equal to speed of light, how we can be sure that we won't see ourselves in telescope?
I mean, even if the radius is infinite, because speed is increasing, we should see sun light returning to us over universe surface at some point
*A few billion years after that, you'll be standing on a hill looking up on a clear night, and the sky will be close to pitch black*
not that long ago we didn't know that we live on a spherewhat if universe is a 4 dimensional sphere?
For me Lucene was always an NoSQL database and the rest of real search stuff I had to implement myself. (not to mention Solr mess).
It's fun and cool to work on some Java code architecture, but the real need lies somewhere else.
you can ALWAYS achieve your target in a better way
Google is amazing about that.
Flash websites or one page JavaScript clusterf*#ks come from developers, who want to achieve cheap cool looking effect in order to cover the lack of real value in their product. They also want to have limited amount of technologies in their stack: Backend -> Server app -> JSON -> Web app, because it gives them false feeling of coding their projects faster.
Web development is like playing football or any other sport for the masses, everyone can do that, but only few can achieve good results.
