dorianm··on Dropbox accounts created after Oct. 2012 won't have a public folder
Seeing the /help/16, I'm guessing this is one of the oldest help page of Dropbox. /help/1 and /help/2 don't exist, so the still published oldest one must be https://www.dropbox.com/help/3 "System requirements to run Dropbox", makes sense
dorianm··on GitLab acquires Gitter, will open-source the code
Think about your favorite github repo, or even just a very specific one, and there is always a few people talking about this repo: https://gitter.im/rails/rails
dorianm··on Introducing Sketch: A Playground for React Native from Expo (YC S16)
Thanks for sharing, this seems like the new jsbin/jsfiddle/codepen for native apps.

There should definitely a list of those, so I started one: https://github.com/Dorian/sketch-reactive-native-apps

dorianm··on Introducing Sketch: A Playground for React Native from Expo (YC S16)
This is history! Being able to write native apps from anywhere, from chromebooks, from any random computer, and shareable, etc.! This is extremely great!
dorianm··on Chromium: Add support for Animated PNG
It's actually an page wrapper around a video element so the source of a gifv is an html page
dorianm··on Unless You’re Oprah, ‘Be Yourself’ Is Terrible Advice (2016)
"Be the change that you want to see in the world"

Sounds more logical to me

dorianm··on JSON Web Tokens should be avoided
It depends on the security model, but in the long term I think sessions are the way to go. It becomes much easier to differentiate the different clients that connects to the API
dorianm··on Entr(1) – Run tests whenever files change
There is also Guard https://github.com/guard/guard
dorianm··on How to recover lost Python source code if it's still resident in-memory
Thanks, I will probably make a wrapper gem around that (e.g. maybe just a `call rb_eval_string ("binding.pry")`).

In my case I get "No symbol "rb_backtrace" in current context.", I will look deeper into it.

Also, there is a great gist about Ruby GDB debugging: https://gist.github.com/mmullis/6211061.

dorianm··on How to recover lost Python source code if it's still resident in-memory
Thanks, I guess I could just have some special key that triggers pry-remote (E.g trap ctrl-D or something)
dorianm··on Tech workers find communal living a solution for high rents
An almost 3 years old article
dorianm··on How to recover lost Python source code if it's still resident in-memory
Anybody knows if it's possible in Ruby? Just being able to have a live irb from a process ID would be pretty awesome
dorianm··on Airbnb raises $1B at $31B valuation, became profitable in 2016
People often rate 5 stars but the comments always describe the place in details.

Typically the cheapest places are also the ones where people don't have high expectations so they will rate 5 stars but leave a comment describing the quirks of the place

dorianm··on Introducing Cloud Functions for Firebase
Nice, maybe the helper text could be improved then?
dorianm··on Introducing Cloud Functions for Firebase
"You have 5 questions remaining"

Limit is 5 per year, that's brutal

dorianm··on Snap Tumbles Below IPO Opening Price as Analysts Say Sell
It's barely below IPO price http://m.imgur.com/X58hugr
dorianm··on Why It’s So Hard to Build the Next Silicon Valley
Paul Graham's "How to Be Silicon Valley" http://www.paulgraham.com/siliconvalley.html
dorianm··on Ask HN: What's the actual fallout been from the Cloudflare bug?
First NDA: Don't talk about NDAs

Second NDA: If it's not published on a Google domain, you have to make as abstract as it gets

dorianm··on Jennifer Widom Named Dean of Stanford School of Engineering
It's crazy how many pages it took me to find the actual class: https://lagunita.stanford.edu/courses/DB/Recursion/SelfPaced...

(those select boxes are definitely non-intuitive, and the whole interface in general)

Anyway, great content!

dorianm··on The Collapse of the Unix Philosophy
I do think we lost of the "do one thing and do it well" https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unix_philosophy

Part of it is that it's way more annoying to maintain a little tool than to make it part of a bigger project with a much bigger community, it's also far harder to discover than just being in the docs a bigger project

dorianm··on Summary of the Amazon S3 Service Disruption
Same as that db1 / db2 for GitLab, naming things is pretty important (E.g production / staging, production-us-east-1-db-560 etc.)
dorianm··on Ask HN: Is S3 down?
Heroku API/Dashboard is down, Bugsnag is down, etc.
dorianm··on Ask HN: Is S3 down?

dorianm··on No publication without confirmation
I applaud for the P < 0.01.

There are too many non reproducible results with real life harm: http://infoproc.blogspot.com/2017/02/perverse-incentives-and...

dorianm··on Cloudflare data still in Bing caches
Yup, I started it because he didn't merge my pull request :D https://github.com/pirate/sites-using-cloudflare/pull/55
dorianm··on Cloudflare Reverse Proxies Are Dumping Uninitialized Memory
Some IPv6 internal connections, some websocket connections to gateway.discord.gg, rewrite rules for fruityfifty.com's AMP pages, and some internal domain `prox96.39.187.9cf-connecting-ip.com`.

And some sketchy internal variables: `log_only_china`, `http_not_in_china`, `baidu_dns_test`, and `better_tor`.

dorianm··on Cloudflare data still in Bing caches
I'm compiling a list of affected domains (with data found in the wild): http://doma.io/2017/02/24/list-of-affected-cloudbleed-domain...

If you find some samples with domain names / unique identifiers of domains (e.g. X-Uber-...) you are welcome to contribute to the list: https://github.com/Dorian/doma/blob/master/_data/cloudbleed....

dorianm··on Cloudflare Reverse Proxies Are Dumping Uninitialized Memory
Here is a list of domains where I found public leaked data: http://doma.io/2017/02/24/list-of-affected-cloudbleed-domain...
dorianm··on Show HN: Twitter bot event recommender near you
Seems like it should tweet at me once a day with a event nearby based on my Twitter's location (in bio). That would be great :)
dorianm··on Dwitter – A social network for short JavaScript demos
Infinite loops (accidental in my case) should probably be catched in some way.
