dorian-graph··on "AI-first" is the new Return To Office
> .. and "AI bad"

He's not saying that though, is he?

He's quite literally said that people have found AI useful, and that's great! For example:

> We don't actually have to follow along with the narratives that tech tycoons make up for each other. We choose the tools that we use, based on the utility that they have for us. It's strange to have to say it, but... there are people picking up and adopting AI tools on their own, because they find them useful.

And:

> The strangest part is, the AI pushers don't have to lie about what AI can do! If, as they say, AI tools are going to get better quickly, then let them do so and trust that smart people will pick them up and use them. If you think your workers and colleagues are too stupid to recognize good tools that will help them do their jobs better, then ..

Anyway, how many layers of accused irony and snark can we go down? Am I the next?

dorian-graph··on Pipelining might be my favorite programming language feature
I wouldn't say it's a Gleam feature per se, in that it's not something that it's added that isn't already in Elixir.
dorian-graph··on Coordinating the Superbowl's visual fidelity with Elixir
> and is there any specific Elixir features were essential that couldn't be replicated in other languages?

From the article:

> “Yes. We’ve seen what the Erlang VM can do, and it has been very well-suited to our needs. You don’t appreciate all the things Elixir offers out of the box until you have to try to implement them yourself.

dorian-graph··on Read CV Acquired by Perplexity
Yet again, let down by a centralised platform. I think most of the ones I haven't been disappointed by are forums, as many have lasted 10+ years.
dorian-graph··on Phi-4 Bug Fixes
Fair enough! I haven't been through the train and release of a model like this, so it's new to me. Thanks for your work! ;)
dorian-graph··on Phi-4 Bug Fixes
These seem like amazingly egregious mistakes MS made? Or is it not as bad as it seems? I suppose, I'm curious how these kinds of mistakes happen for a model release.
dorian-graph··on Apple acquires Pixelmator
Same! I had immediately considered it to switch to, and then learn that. Nothing is sacred.
dorian-graph··on Apple acquires Pixelmator
It's owned by Canva now though, so I don't have any more faith in it.
dorian-graph··on Once You Try a Four-Day Workweek, It's Hard to Go Back
Any comments like this seem disingenuous when even 1 billionaire exists.

It reminds me of people complaining of why are train drivers striking, when they're already paid more than nurses, thus how dare they.

Wealthy inequality isn't between us common folk, it's between them (the ultra wealthy) and us.

If there truly was fair compensation, there wouldn't be anyone with that much money. We're already doubtful of the 10x engineer, let alone the 1,000,000,000,000x engineer.

dorian-graph··on Product Hunt isn't dying, it's becoming gentrified
The comments sections have had the same vibe and usefulness as LinkedIn influencers and grifters for a couple of years now.
dorian-graph··on Zed on Linux Is Here
I've found attitudes like this to be the worst parts of the community.

Maybe it's quite nice because of how they've approached building it? I've been actively watching Helix for quite a while now, and I've observed as hostile those who approach the project are.

From what I've seen, they do listen to feedback. Perhaps similar to the person who said it had stalled, people take not saying yes as not listening to feedback?

dorian-graph··on Zed on Linux Is Here
Stalled how? There was a release a couple of months ago. There's another on the way. There are regular changes merged in. There's been foundational changes (events) made to enable new features. The plugins are being worked on, and whilst the speed may not be for you, that doesn't mean its stalled?

Which update? The design of the system is so that there's minimal things installed that require a layer update.

dorian-graph··on Install Asdf: One Runtime Manager to Rule All Dev Environments
> Just as one starts getting popular ...

asdf hasn't just started getting popular. It's been popular for a long time already. IIRC I started using it ~8 years ago (~2016). asdf has been around since 2014. I believe Mise (rtx) has been around for a couple of years already too.

dorian-graph··on Monodraw
> Have you had this for a long time ..

Similar to the OP, I've had it for years, and used it every and now then through those years.

> .. can you share how you’ve used the generated diagrams?

The website mentions exporting in text and images. I use the text importing (to clipboard), with "Trim trailing whitespace".

> .. but the raw text would probably be too big in (e.g. a terminal).

It's as big or small as you want it to be? With the obvious constraints of the different banner styles. People have had ASCII banners in consoles for decades, there's nothing new about the ASCII banners from Monodraw.

dorian-graph··on Monodraw
Contributors don't magically appear. Maintaining a community, reviewing changes, steering, etc. all take time and energy. Again, contributors don't magically appear who can do those things, who are aligned with the creator.

Licenses don't magically stop bad actors.

Both statements by the author are correct.

dorian-graph··on Monodraw
Thank you so much for Monodraw! I've used it on and off for _years_.
dorian-graph··on Apple has not fixed the macOS audio left/right balance bug for nearly 10 years

> .. which now seemingly everyone suffers from ...

Was this claimed somewhere? Either way, it's clearly not true. You're not affected by a bug that lots of others are (myself included!), so consider yourself lucky.
